I have SUCH a struggle with this. I look to other people for how I should be acting in a situation and it’s gotten so automatic that I inadvertently exhaust myself just by mimicking. Like, yes, I CAN go to that loud restaurant physically, but SHOULD I? Choosing your own needs over other people’s is so hard for me as an autistic person.

It feels like the best thing to do at the time, and it’s the easiest in the beginning. Just takes so much recovery at the end. I definitely get it
