Resting foreboding bitch face is my personal favorite move. Freaks people out when I'm just trying to push through until I can leave.

Me, trying to understand her shirt because I can read unknown but it just looks like gibberish: 😃 (i kept reading it as citsitua) and then I realized it was backwards and it says autistic.

Yeah, I can do certain things but I will pay for it later. And orher people don't always see the price I pay so they don't understand how much it took out of me.

I used to struggle with that all the time, even if it's not returned to me. Internalized ableism is trauma bonding for me. I'm better off being a loner because I never understood how people really connect with others naturally.

As an autistic who fidgets a lot in public, I do try to be quiet but sometimes I accidentally cause a disturbance. I immediately stop what I’m doing as soon as someone calls it out and apologise, it’s not hard guys

Narcissists hate autistic people and go to extremes to destroy their lives. Be extra careful of covert narcissists if you have autism.

The “oh I thought you were joking” was one that I got once and I was so baffled by the fact that someone would JOKE about being autistic that it didn’t even register at first

I have SUCH a struggle with this. I look to other people for how I should be acting in a situation and it’s gotten so automatic that I inadvertently exhaust myself just by mimicking. Like, yes, I CAN go to that loud restaurant physically, but SHOULD I? Choosing your own needs over other people’s is so hard for me as an autistic person.

It feels like the best thing to do at the time, and it’s the easiest in the beginning. Just takes so much recovery at the end. I definitely get it

At my cashier job a woman asked if she would “get a voucher” if she recommended the store to her friends. I explained that we don’t do that and she looks at me deadpan and says “that was a joke. A joke.” And it made me feel so stupid but like people ask those questions all the time how was I supposed to know 😭 sometimes retail is a *nightmare* for autistic people

Unfortunately my friend is the epitome of the steriotype and then some, meanwhile im the type whos sitting there like "dont look at me, im invisible, making no noise and pretending i dont exist" and if i poke at him that hes going a bit over the top he'll act like a kicked puppy and look hella sorry for himself, i try to ignore and move along but it makes me feel like shit 😢😅

Walk like you've been sent to murder captain america and your the winter soldier. Think murder then walk. I've been doing it so long it's my default walk and lemme tell you only little kids bother me. Because they sense I'm friend shaped and it's always when I'm trying to find the sugariest thing on my shopping list. Grab a cart and walk. (Adhd and autistic with other issues. My main worry is when I get trailer by security thinking I'm actually going to murder someone and grown people thinking I'm going to murder someone. Randomly eyeing people because examine nature just makes people more nervous. I wear my headphones with music going and all black clothes.)

I have to go out and get things done. But I have to deal with people everyday Targeting me, for my appearance, I am not normal looking I guess.I didn't think adults could have such a low way of behaving and it's acceptable by society.

I wasnt diagnosed until i was in my 30s my husband and i were confused why most of our kids were autistic and the specialist thought we were joking, then explained that it is more likely to happen when a parent is autistic but when both are then it is most likely to happen lol but yeah i learned to mask and it is so exhausting to do so and it makes everything more stressful so i stopped doing it. I have been so much happier!!
