Love how the synth is like an ocean of sound on a dark night, the drums are like distant thunderclaps, and her voice is like a bird flying through the stormy skies, this moment gliding on the currents, and the next moment beating with its wings to cut through the winds with power.[

The "singing" around the 13 minute mark is, or sound a lot like something that we used to do in Scandinavia, to translate it it will be called " Cow Calling " So when the cows had been grassing in the hills and mountains and it was time to return a girl from the farm or village would go out and sing this " Cow Calling ".. and there are YT videos about it, and its really haunting and pretty to listen to. And yes it is actually a real thing.

I'm a metalhead, and Eivor is one of my favourite non metal singers. I also love her traditional "folk" influenced style songs that she sings in her native Faroese language. I highly recommend reacting to her song Trodlabundin live in Norway. If mother earth could sing, it would sound like this song haha it's like walking through an enchanted forest. She uses a traditional style of throat singing as well that is mind blowing 😁 link - kzbin.info/www/bejne/raTPXn5-fMpngc0
@greggary72172 жыл бұрын
Great analysis really insightful - the vocalizations seems to be a Faroese folk thing (at least she’s from there and uses it sometimes) but to me it’s very reminiscent of Native American (or First Nations in Canada) vocalizations. Regardless, Eivor is almost always in my playlist. Hope you get to more at some point :-)
@MissLoonasSpeech2 жыл бұрын
I think the vocalizations which you have in mind are those which remind of the traditional chanting of the Sami people (who live scattered among the northern parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia) which is called Joik (and has already been mentioned by several people in the comments) it is indeed very reminiscent of Native American vocalizations. I've already mentioned the Norwegian singer Mari Boine and two of her songs in my post a few comments below. Fun fact (since you mentioned the First Nations in Canada): Mari Boine has done a cover version of the song "Eagle Man/Changing Woman" by the Canadian singer Buffy Sainte-Marie. Here's a live-version of this cover from 2004 (video quality is poor, but the sound is good): kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZuudp9sd8eUkKs
