A little while back you did a killer cover on that P-bass. The others sound good, but boy-oh-boy, that Precision has something smooth and full about it.

You should definitely keep the Squier. It looks like you are most comfortable on it. Besides the sound of each basses, your technique on each bass is noticeably different. On Squier, you hold the most consistent note lengths out of the 3 basses. You tend to play staccato on the Guild; you mentioned it inspires you to play more like that but it shouldn't be to the point that it makes you play something without being aware of it. On the Mustang (and to some extend, the Guild), you tend to smack the strings much harder than the Squier making the loud percussive sound which is quite distracting to the whole bass line. Just my 2 cents.

So, I heard the sound comparison without watching and liked the first one the most all the way through. Surprisingly for me, that turned out to be the Guild. The Vincent looks sooo cool, though.

On looks alone it has to be the Squier. It reminds me of the first P Bass I had, a1962 model. The previous owner had removed the finish(sacrilege) but you could still see traces of the Fiesta Red when I removed the neck but it was still Fiesta Red in my mind. Why Squier discontinued this colour is a complete mystery to me.

I liked the squire tone all around. Sounded good with the sim without the sim. i did not like the clacky quality of the vincent. I'm sure that could be fixed by adjusting the pickup height slightly though.

They all sound great for different things. The Guild is a little dark through that amp sim - probably what you're looking for as a semi hollow with flats, but I actually like how the top end sounds on it direct. The Mustang is the best all round, but that price! I like that it sounds great in every scenario. In terms of versatility, the P Bass could go with almost anything sound wise.

Guild all the way it’s different and sounds great anyway you put it plus having extra flats around you could always use them in a pinch with any of your p basses.

I have the same fiesta red Squier Precision. This is my favourite instrument despite of having more expensive Fender Ps. I play the Squier with Thomastik Infeld Flats and I replaced the stock pickup for a Seymour Duncan SPB-1. So authentic massive sound/tone not to mention the playability, ergonomics and the cool colour too.. Rock on Jonny! 😃

They sound pretty similar via my pc speakers, there is a difference but nothing significant. I like the look of the squire and it sounded a teeny bit better in some parts. I think it's down to whichever is nicest to play or unique or in my case, cheapest.

Sound-wise, I'm leaning towards the Guild. They all sound great and quite similar, but the Guild just has a tad bit more punch to my ears. But really, it should come down to which one YOU like the best, which one makes you more excited to play. The fancy one (forgot what it's called) sounds a bit more nasally and is super expensive. The Squier has a classic p with flats character and is an amazing value but I'm not sure it can stack up to basses several times its price in terms of build quality.

If its your only flat wound strung bass go with the Squier P Bass. If you ever find yourself needing to chase an iconic motown/Jamerson vibe you are going to be a lot closer with that rig than anything else. P.S I am incredibly biased in that I only own 2 basses and one is a Fender Precision with Rounds and Squier Classic P 60s with Flats.

Thanks man, you made me get a Paranormal Rascal and it was a great decision, gigging it for the first time this week end and Can't wait, just wanted to show my appreciation :) its a toss up between the Squire and the Vincent for me, some annoying clicks on the Vincent (thats just my taste though) and, I second the notion of a previous opinon, whatever feels best to play!

Personally I prefer the Squier or the Guild over the Vincent. I feel like the Squier and the Guild have pretty similar sounds, but the Guild has more high mids. If you enjoy playing the Squier more keep it. If the more unique sound of the Guild is something you really like to have keep it.

I liked the Vincent until you took the amp sim off. Then there was a very hard to ignore percussive sound after each pluck and it took the joy away from that great tone. If that’s fixable the Vincent would get my vote. If not the Squier would be my next choice.

my experience with a Mustang: played on a rehearsel with a rock cover band: way more easy to hear what I was playing, compared to my jazz bass. (and now I understand why Bill Wyman always played a short scale with the Stones ...) I also play with jazz musicians and use a P with flats or nylon tapes for that style: sometimes the Mustang is nice for jazz and sometimes (when playing with an acoustic piano) it doesn't work at all (to much lows and the wrong kind of mids because of the only 30" scale), when playing jazz: the P just always works! (and I don't wanna take two basses with me ...)
