You are right on with everything you said! 👍🏼👏🏻🙌🏼 I went to my f2f in middle of Feb. to Delta. I felt uncomfortable and I’m pretty sure it showed. I tried to smile and mingle and do everything to get the cjo. However I could tell I wasn’t “shining” like a few others... 5 to be exact. Those 5 got cjo. I knew the difference between their extroverted, outgoing personality and huge smiles compared to how I was. I used this knowledge/ experience for LAS hiring event at end of Feb. I turned on my fun smiley personality and (was one of the few to smile and have enthusiasm for fish bowl question) I talked with as many people as possible and continued and remained upbeat and smiled all day (but not over the top)! I got the cjo and it actually turns out this company (I got cjo with) is Way Better fit for me and my family!!! So it always works out!!! 😊✈️😊

Thank you for this video!! I’m surprised it was suggested to me because I had my live interview today and feel the same way. I’m apart of a Facebook group for prospective flight attendants and everyone always talks about how much they enjoyed their LI and how personable their interviewer was and that it was like talking with a lifelong friend. I did not have that experience and fed off of that energy to the point that I let it get the best of me and I was not myself. I cried to myself afterwards and was so down about how I did that I couldn’t talk because I was extremely disappointed in myself. But like you said, chalk it up to experience and use this as a teaching moment for my next interview!! Keep doing what you’re doing Steven in inspiring people to keep going and look at things from a different perspective. Your videos have been a blessing.

I just want to say I’ve been watching your videos and I admire you and your dedication. I got my F2F today and I’m 98% sure I flopped. I’m so disappointed but your video helped me see that sometimes the one thing you want the most, is the best thing that never happened. It will take me a while to process the “why” I didn’t get a CJO, I thought I answered the questions to my best ability. It’s a legacy airline, there’s a lot of competition but at the end I know I’d risk my life for every passenger on the flight. I can be almost certain by the feedback I got that I’m not moving on to training. I’m 46 and have wanted to be a flight attendant since high school. Thank you for your videos, I’m crying as I watch this but not all my hope is lost thanks to you. Thank you, thank you!

This is so encouraging I applied for a major airline, and everyone on videos and even at the interview saying BE YOURSELF! It really hurts that I was really myself my warm nice self, my outgoing loving self. Just to not get a CJO at the job event, but was told will receive an email 7-10 business days saying if I got the job or a TBNT… I really think if they couldn’t tell me and others if I got a job at the event like they did the rest of the class then I didn’t get it. So now it’s the waiting game to basically get denied… I feel very hurt and unsure. I put myself out there, and this is very crushing, because the interviews made me really feel like I got the job. I wish I never went to the interview this was another pain I didn’t need in my life, but now I know the process and have experience and get to save. I am currently a flight attendant I feel they are judging me for that.

I'm sorry that you feel it didn't go well. As you're already a flight attendant, you already know what they want to hear. Sometimes the people interviewing just don't see the treasure in front of them. Something that also comes to mind...many people apply for years, over and over. Before they get any offer, never mind at one particular mainline. I'd try to enjoy the FA job that you have and keep trying for others if you're not happy where you are.

“Congratulations! You didn’t get the job offer!” I am laughing so hard. What you said is so true, all of it! I have been networking while I am going through the process. It is so important to listen and observe. What has surprised me is reading postings about “sliding” through on clothing or hair or something that is just questionable. I am really watching to see if they pass. For example, if I had a tattoo that I even thought could be seen, I would be researching coverup and would never think of wearing a 3/4 sleeve shirt with a jacket. My mentor from years ago said, “You will fail.” Later they added, one needs to take an honest look and try to do better and go in and do it again.

I can tell you that the one application process that I got the farthest on many years ago didn't go well because I wasn't prepared with knowledge on the airline, and I wasn't totally honest on the application, and it pains me to this day to remember it. For a long time after the interview, as I would drive to my job, I had to pass a huge billboard for that airline and it would fill me with sadness. I am thankful that I have greater wisdom about those things now and would do things differently if I had the opportunity.

Went to 2 interviews. First was a European airline (one of the few if not the only EU airline that hires in America). I really wanted to work for this airline so I prepped so hard & got in my head a bit. It was do or die. I came out of the interview feeling like I aced it because I rehearsed all my answers & I made the recruiters laugh here & there & made them see that I was outgoing & had a sense of humor. Got rejected. Second was a mainline. Still sad about my rejection so I went in not really caring that much. Just went in & said fuck it, I’ll just do my best. I caught myself taking a longer time answering the questions during the interview (because I didn’t rehearse). And actually thought I did horrible because I felt like I wasn’t ready. Turns out I got the CJO. So weird. The recruiter even told me in the end that if I didn’t get the CJO that I could still apply for other positions. I thought that was a red flag & most certainly believed I screwed up. Anyways, thanks for your help. Your videos are amazing & I think you’re really intelligent.

According to the Buddhist philosophy not getting what one wants can be viewed as a blessing as well. There are several other airlines that this young man hopefully pursues (after he has saved up enough dough) Getting hired as a flight attendant even by second or third rate airlines is very tough because MANY people want this job and most believe they have the skills and education for the position....BUT the hiring process is VERY subjective and your acceptance is solely dependent on your interviewer. If he/she is not attracted to you in any way ie doesn't like your nose or your accent or what ever, you are out of luck unless you have connections within the airline you are applying for.

Even on the flight coming home from my CJO there was turbulence and "Uh!!!" flew out of my mouth! 😆 So even though I am flying all my life, and not really afraid, I am still reactive...so that is something I need to work on! On another note I filled out an application to a legacy airline I dreamed of my whole life...I got called within days to do a video interview. Then I was contacted re: a phone interview as well, which I did. I did not get the CJO. 😢 They did not say reapply in 6 mos. which many airlines do when you have no experience... but they did encourage me to apply for other jobs that appeal to me (Not clear what this means. Within their company? With other companies? I don't know) The letter is vague, but my hubby thought it seemed like a form letter. I wrote the recruiter asking for feedback, got no response. Resent...nothing. Although I did not get the CJO 😢 I got that far in the process...with No FA experience and no interviewing experience, as I was a stay at home home in recent years! I got CJO's with other companies I applied to, and was able to choose. But I do have mixed emotions when it comes to that airline...because I still do not know why or why not 😩 Thanks for this video Steven!

But I think I may have not answered one particular question in the best way. lol, this made me think about 2 interviews and the surrounding circumstances...Im 64 now but back then was in my middle 20's and was working for a Seattle travel agent. My sales rep for Braniff said I should apply for flight attendant. I applied and was offered an interview in Dallas. End result, no sleep on the flight, walked a block to the hotel in 95 degree weather in a WOOL tweed suit. Had a sit for 3 hours and sloshed out of my interview, one that I cant even remember. Experience 2. United. Local interview. Decided to streak my hair the night before had a little too much wine, my hair turned orange. Dyed it successfully to a beautiful color but was done with that at 300am. Interview at 8:00am. So tired I lost my footing going up the stairs of the hotel and broke my heel (2 1/2 inches of heel dragging behind me). That was all I could think of. Don't remember the interview. I successfully interviewed with Western Airlines a year later for Reservation sales, was dressed in business attire but comfortable for the 80 degree weather and wore flats lol. Braniff closed their doors and United sent people to Chicago (no one who got the job was based in Seattle, a deal breaker for me)so it all worked out well. I stayed with Western/Delta for almost 15 years until the Seattle base for Reservation sales closed and I chose to leave and start my family. I had worked 4 different positions and relocated and returned from SFO in the 1st 5 years with them due to seniority. I ended my career with DL in a supervisor position. The extensive experiences on that job helped me land my 2nd career dream job at 59 as a court clerk, a job I still hold. I will always be grateful I never got those jobs as the universe helped guide me to exactly where I needed to be!

I did not get a CJO last month but I met so many amazing people most of who also did not get a job offer (out of 60 people 10 got CJOs) I learned just how little time you actually have to make an impression on the recruitment team in your 1 on 1 interview and in the group interview. But what I did come away with was knowing what to expect next time I go to a F2F, and I don't think any other interview experience will be as intense as going to F2F.

The one thing people notice immediately about the flight attendants when they board the plane is....... you guessed it were they smiling and come across as friendly. That being said don’t give that fake pageant smile. Remember this is the first impression your guests have of you and it’s important that the first interaction with someone you are trapped in a metal tube with views you in a positive light. If something goes wrong these are the people you might just be depending on to help you off that airplane, or the people you know you can call upon to assist you.

Thank you for the advice Steven! Through getting a TBNT at an interview I have learned that I have what it takes to get the CJO even if now is not the right time. I have learned this by going to five F2F interviews and making it to the last interview at four of them, I had what they were looking for I just have to work on perfecting my appearance. I met a ton of great people at these events and learned a lot from them, I got to step outside my comfort zone and talk with recruiters about moments in my past careers that led me to this interview. After I had started perfecting my appearance recently I have received two F2F invites for open applications I had that I had to turn down until I am ready giving me even more positivity!
