Fun fact: Magikarp is literally the most common Pokémon in all of Kanto when playing Red/Blue. Once you get the Old Rod, every body of water you can encounter it in has a 100% encounter rate... And in you think Zubat, Rattata, or Pidgey are common, you haven't played Gen 1... Those three are considered rare to encounter if you pair up the stats with Magikarp. Pidgey can be found in 14 different places. Rattata is in 7, which is surprising... Magikarp? A whopping 26! You can fish in any body of water at 26 different locations in Kanto and find nothing but Magikarp if you only use the Old Rod. I don't think any other gave has a Pokémon as Magikarp in Red Blue and even Yellow.
