Great video! As a Realtor, I know the South Side is filled with so many hidden gems. Awesome history you shared of the Chicago bungalow. My Grandparents owned one and it truly is a classic and historical part of this City's beating heart. Loved Harold Washington as a kid. My Dad worked in City Hall and saw them taking him out of his office the day he passed. (Being that he worked in the Comptroller's Office, our Dads may have crossed paths.) It would have been amazing to see where Washington's political career would have landed him.

I love Chicago architecture and the history of south side neighborhoods is fascinating. Can't believe that bricks aren't being used anymore or real wood 😮 to make new housing. It makes me appreciate ❤ my mid-century raised brick ranch home that much more. Thank you for such an informative piece!

Nice episode, Dilla; and as an original Chicagoan and Southsider, I look forward to future episodes about other neighborhoods as well as my own - though I'm from the time/generation/group that named the neighborhoods by their parishes (St. Ethelreda).

Great way to kick off the series. You gave such rich history of Chatham and the bungalow. I pass by Mahalia Jackson's house all the time. And your father being part of Harold Washington's processional. You were destined for this.

Thank you for sharing this! You are incredible! I love your delivery and passion for all things Chicago. I am Chicago born and bred! However, check Mahalia Jackson's address. I believe it is in the 85th block of Indiana Ave. Her home is now owned and occupied by former Congressman/Senator Roland Burris. I lived at one time across the street from relatives of Lorraine Hansberry and I visited the home of poet Gwendolyn Btooks at 73rd/74th and Evans. (Her daughter and I were Hirsch H.S. classmates). This gives me so much pride! Thank you again for sharing the legacy of Chicago's Black History and roots.❤

Fantastic First Episode Dilla!! Mad ❤ Cha, we personally know another, that Boost Mobile that I owned on Chicago Ave & Lotus. The duality of our city is amazing! Gustav Stickley was a furniture designer a paved the way for the bungalow hosting to exist after the great Chicago "cover up" fire. My grandfather was the second aborigin man to buy his brick house on the west side of Chicago when there was nothing but polish and jews that resided. We own the house 'til this day. Looking forward to an amazing espionage two Dilla...Peace & blessings 🤝🏾✌🏽 12:55

The Bungalow, "It's A Brick House," Dilla!✨️ The photos of Muhammad Ali and Mahalia Jackson are profound. As is the photo and background on your father. The neighborhood certainly does give back love. 🖤Thanks for helping us all to watch the planted seeds grow, and, check out Lems!😋 It does my heart so much good to watch this, and I can't wait to see and learn more! 🤗💫💯🙏
