Sorry but After using sound bars for so many years I can confidently say once I bought a 5.2.2/7.2 receiver I can confidently say running a 5.1.2 setup blows any soundbar I’ve had out the water and any soundbar with DTS-x or even a 4.1 sound bar with rear “wireless speakers just doesn’t sound any were close to to my 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos surround sound, once I fired up a movie with a good Atmos mix in it I was blown away with the clarity of the sound and getting goose bumps especially when it a jet flies over from back to front and the transition to each speaker was amazing and I couldn’t even tell the audio was being reproduced by speakers it felt like i was there in the movie which is something I’ve never gotten from a sounds bar, the only time I see a sound bar as an actual Choice is for an area where you don’t need surround sound so like a living room or a teenagers room for gaming but saying you don’t need a receiver to have a surround sound system is completely disingenuous and misleading for the simple fact that a soundbar has a receiver built in not to mentioned in the case of “wireless rear speakers” you need a receiver to catch the signal being sent out by the main unit and the issue with that is it’s able to have to interference causing issues with the audio cutting out and it’s another part to fail same with sound bar subwoofers which are wireless and the less wireless, I’m sorry to say but sound bars while they’re useful they’re not replacing a full setup with proper receiver that can handle proper Dolby Atmos and not needing upward during speakers and using the ceiling as an acoustic mirror and you hoping you get the desired effect which can be hit or miss, i would advise changing the title!

One thing people don't ever think about and that is creating an acoustically neutral room, or any kind of sound proofing to make the room your stereo is in work better with your stereo. There are crazy expensive "foam" products out there and I'm not sure if they deliver for the price. However, having a room with double walls where there is a 2 - 6 inch open air gap between them I do know works great at making a room shine acoustically. And allows you to crank it up without annoying the whole neighborhood. The most bohemian and cheap way to help a room out is hanging moving blankets from the ceilings along the outer edge of the walls, again leaving that so important gap of air space and making sure the blankets extend to the floor. And by the way, can you ever have too many speakers, really? :)

For surround sound you need some device that splits the signal to multiple channels. A sound bar splits to the signal to the drive units it has and possibly to bass and rear speakers. To balance the sound between left and right, front and back a receiver has the most features for easy adjustment. You can have a HDMI debedder that takes the audio out to 8 channels and passes through the signal to a television, projector or display monitor. If the source is a computer then the computer treats the debedder as a sound card and you have some control over the arrangement. Passive speakers and active analogue speakers do not have a lip sync latency issue. Anything digital and particularly wireless introduces delay or compression or both. Not all systems give you the control and set up features to make the adjustments. Usually the audio is delayed but can sometimes precede the action.
@mydogskips2 Жыл бұрын
Well, there is low-latency Bluetooth, so hopefully manufacturers can find a way to do it wirelessly without a delay, or find a way to compensate somehow to have the audio sync with the video, I don't think it should be that difficult. But beyond that, I'd like to see them make the soundbar the center channel speaker only (there's no real stereo separation, imaging, or soundstage with a soundbar, and separate fronts are needed for that) and have all the other speakers including 2 fronts, L and R, a sub, and however many satellite surround speakers, connect wirelessly. Of course, the soundbar would be the signal processing unit/audio decoder via HDMI as well. My biggest issue with having a surround sound system, besides putting at least 5 speakers and a sub all around my room, is having to run cables from a receiver all the way to the rears, so I don't do it.
@geraldmcmullon2465 Жыл бұрын
@@mydogskips2 Low latency Bluetooth is still compressed and lossy. Airplay 2 is compressed but lossless. It works with Mac, ipad and iphones but not Airplay app from a PC. Wisa uses 5GHz but is different to wi-fi with a spec of -15 to 35 ms latency. Each speaker has a receiver so no cables to or between speakers. Limited to 24/96 with the best Ethernet RJ45 systems able to do 24/192.
@johannjohann6523 Жыл бұрын
I would like to add, that from my experience to have enjoyed better fidelity out of passive than active speakers. Sure a powered sub for your car is one thing. But at home, I just think passive speakers, including subs sound more musical than powered ones. That's the beauty of 5.1 surround systems. From quality companies the A/V receivers and speakers should match excellent together, better than any other brand regardless of price. I have a number of quality receivers, and tested them all with my speakers, but nothing sounded better than the receiver that came with the surround system (JBL). That really surprised me. But I imagine that will largely depend on the stereo company you prefer. Building a set of speakers, or speaker kits I have heard are a great way to really increase the quality of your stereo while not mortgaging the house. Which kits, that I cannot say regretfully. But when it comes to cabinets, finding a quality pair of speakers with nice cabinets but "blown" drivers I think is the way to go. You just replace the drivers, that way the speaker cabinet is already built. Used cabinets with bad speakers in them go real cheap too. You will need to watch and find new drivers that match the crossover unless you wish to replace them as well. And that is something I am having a hard time to understand - the high cost of speaker crossovers with low end Chinese parts. Parts Express anybody? Peace.

You do not need an AV receiver or AV pre-sound processor or anything else that often is both superfluous, undersized and expensive in order to get a DTS / AC-3 decoder with 5.1 or 7.1 audio out via DAC to discrete analog outputs. There are plenty of products that even have HDMI and HDCP v2 and higher with ARC and CEC support etc on the market that have that function and support for much less price even counting the amplifiers that can drive the speakers.

I already did the homework and 500$ surround receiver is a better solution and cheaper. Here is what you need to have good sound without a receiver. A hdmi extractor that gives you rca conectors for all your inputs. You can also use a good enough usb soundcard with proper drivers to run dts decoding and so on. You need minim 3 spliters 16 mm to rca. You need 3 set of rca white and red cables. And finally 2 desktop size amp with a minimum of 100 x 100 watts of power and finally a 3rd one with a pre out connection which you connect your sub to it or in one that can give at least 300 wats in a single channel L- and R+ connection. All that at modest quality is gona cost you around 600$ taxes included.

A 6channel receiver is a hybrid between a 5.1 channel decoder and an amplifier. (Combines the two) Alternatively: You could just buy a cheap 5.1 decoder and connect the output of the decoder to an signal amplifier. There is definitely some hassle upfront but once you’re set, you don’t seem to notice it at all. The results are phenomenal. The overall cost comes down dramatically, also the above setup allows for practically endless number of any type of speakers through daisy chained amplifiers and not just the ones you get with your receiver.

Class A or AB amplifiers kick out a lot of heat, and 5 channels of fairly high power amplification needs plenty of space, not just for the components but for cooling - that's why receivers were originally that size. Nowadays you can get smaller receivers that use Class D amplifiers - they are a lot more efficient so produce less waste heat and don't need the space. However, good Class D amps tend to be expensive, and cheap ones generally sound worse than AB. The other reason they're the size they are is to fit all the connectors on the back. Small ones may be more limited in what they can offer in terms of connectivity.

Well, be grateful you didn't build a dedicated home theater. Because you are right, very few people want them. There's an audio reviewer on another channel who talked about building a maybe six-figure home theater, and when he wanted to sell his house, the question EVERYONE had for him was, CAN I REMOVE THE THEATER ROOM? Unless you are a real movie enthusiast and just love watching movies and want a theater experience, home theaters are a complete waste of money, the above story and many articles have confirmed as much, I read that most home theaters largely go unused. I live in an apartment, and while I am an audio enthusiast, the last thing I want in my living room is six black boxes(5 speakers and a subwoofer), as well as speaker wire, strung all around my room, two front speakers and a subwoofer is more than enough.

If you think soundbars are going to be outdated, what will replace them? I mean, soundbars are made to replace big speakers with one slim unit you place under the TV, they're all about form factor and ease of setup compared to speakers and receiver. If you're saying we're going to go even smaller, fine, but if you want sound/music/audio in your space, you need to have some kind of speaker, whatever it may be, soundbar or otherwise, and the laws of physics being what they are, I doubt they'll be able to make better sounding stuff in a smaller box, there is a limit.

The rear surround speakers typically do NOT require a power outlet, only the Subwoofer does. You plug in the subwoofer and connect it wirelessly to the soundbar, and only run cables halfway or even less compared to running speaker wire all the way from the receiver to rear surround speakers, let alone Atmos if someone is doing that.

not necesserly true they make some pretty crappy recievers that are as light as a feather and still cost 250 through 500 dollars you at least have to pay 800 buck to get a solid performer compared to a nakami sound bar unless your thinking of a samsung sound bar at walmart theyre the worst tweeters awlays blow and the sub is the only nice thing i recomend brands like lg sony bose klipch polk audio or simalar viszio has best bang for buck ive seen a vizio sound bar at walmart and it surprisngly sounded way better than most samsung sound bars if the put better drivers in the one i saw id reccomend it but it has peizos which sound tinny but it was a walmart one but id prefer a mid driver doing the highs like in bose over that jank junk even a paper cone tweeter would be better make sure if you buy a samsung that its a higher model cuz samsung has cut corners on alot of there low end products never pay for a receiver new for 250 bucks unless expecting max spl and tons of great features your better off buying an older pioner sony denon marantz onkyo because those were built like a tank even if its from the 70s to 2006 id say any of those models blow away the jank recievers even priced at 3000 and up msrp if you want to make it complicated look up dolby atmos processor and youll find great brands i can only dream of where the amp is seperate but cost thousands of dollars but an amp can be as low as 150 bucks plus shipping in ment condition for bang for buck add dolby attmos cheap reciever with multi out and itll smoke even the most expensice reviverr out there cuz your using the reciever as a proccesssor disabling the amp section and make sure it has a pre out rca tyoe connectrors to run to amp which needs rca too i know its alot but hey youll get true refrence level sound for a small cheap upgrade only if you have big speakers for surround s front and center heeights can be small but same thing go with brands that can be trusted the amps that are made in usa on ebay have 16 channels good for future proofing and can run as low as 150 bucks plas a hefty price in sipping but the older stereo recievers from 70s are the way to go for stereo sound you can convert the hdmi audio to anolog with a magic device called a dac which is in cell phones and mp3 players which have built in mini amps even baby toys that make noise have a baby size chip amp in them lol but
@phillipallen55643 жыл бұрын
i only recomend the cheaper recievers if you have small to meduim speakers for large or even massive towers center channel i recomend at least spending 880 bucks and i think most of the 250 dollar recievers now have no pre out for amp so do your research if you want to connect external amp via rca cables i think some 500 buck ones do but havent looked in a whie plus newer isnt always better ive seeen some flatscreens that look like a 480p soap oprea no matter what you do and theyre 4k mostly cheap ones but if you go with the right model it doesnt matter hisense is becoming a higher end brand than vizio lol pretty sad cuz vizio made box tvs and ivenever saw one in person but those ones i was talking about look worse than my 32 inch samsung from 2011 but it was 500 brand new what do you expect you get wht you pay for even they were worse than the old truflat tube tvs which i think have the best color acuracy unless your paying 500 or more for a 4k tv itll probably have very poor upscaling and horrible backlight thet doesnt have any dimming zones like the high end tvs and oled is great if you have the money the crt like blacks are amazing andthe only issue i have with mine is burn in but i can dill with it over the washed out soap opera affect which some tvs are stuck with!!! i meant 800 bucks for a reciever to drive big speakers cuz the can do 1000wpc or higher at 8 ohms but you reeally need a medium sized surrounds for it cuz the surrround chanels are always quiter unless you turn them up so for rap surrounds max center depends fronts half level sub depends on how its crossedover and level is set to for rock you usaullly can max out everthing and it wont distort or blow unless you dont have klipsh cuz mine ive seen people blow the tweeters on them cuz they were set way tooo low and it made the reciever work harder cuz you had to like turn it all the way up just to hear it and some recievers audto calibration sucks like onkyos new accueq its useless sets everything way off and the best one ive experienced is pioneers mcacc cal it is top notch sadly better than yamahas ypao only cuz you can custimize the eq and it has two eq to customize which is great for stuff that has no bass or treble and you feel the sound is too boring thats why i like klipsch theyre known for their fun sound plus their amazing for there price even there small speakers high end or lond all good would definatly reccomend them i saw a 50 dollar 2,1 klipsh pc speaker system that retails for 150 at walmart thats the best chrismas deal yet you could also hook pc speakers up to your tv just make sure their good ones and if it reallly is making a differnce in sound 50 dollars man for a speaker system that is 250 bucks back when i bought one my walmart mustve got price mixed up with their other ones that were klipsch they were portable bluetooth speakers but i swore it said 150 dollars for it so whoever paid 50 bucks got a steal reminds me of my first 50 dollar heme theater in a box back in 2004 it would rattle my window and sounded better than my mom and stepdads 150 dollar one it had a massive amp like a logitech z900 or whatever that was called thats another good one but there expenve but most there 2.1 and up speakers are great tooo and so is altec lansings vintage white pc speakers with sub from 90s to 2006

olus ive blown my ears from listing to alot of luod musci on big speakers and earphones that have a ton of bass plus the bass on my mp3 player and now i need a headphone amp when i use any portable device unless its an old ipod cuz those were super loud like off that simpsons i wonder how loud one would be with a headpone amp plugged into it at max volume with the eq set on rock bet it would blow a 600 ohm pair of headphones with the right music after a few seconds the higher the impedance the more power the headphones need its like the oposite for speakers no matter what kind they are unless the toy ones are like headhones and peizo buzzers cuz their so small a speaker usually requires more power at rms the lower the impedance and its bad to run speakers at max power cuz they usually blow u can usually go a little over as with anything and ittl still perform like day 1 but some cheaper stuff cant handle it or lower end i shoud say not all cheap or low end is bad though cuz that 50 dollar regent a product of lennex sound was a beast in a small sub box in desquise untill you looked at the back and saw that massive amp heatsync thats my 10 cents for getting the best out of your home theater and tv

does it have hdmi if not buy a tv with optical audio out or buy a converter than converts hdmi to coax the orange rca jack not the fm antannea or wht i call twistie cable now so peaople dont mix it up with the newer version for sending digital losseless audio to your reciever might sound better than the old way may sound the same not sure how you have it hooked up but if you have a newer game syetem or bluray player or dvd player it might not have a coax out put but if your devices do run them though coax to if its old like rca only you are a true audiophile the older stuff was built way better which is when they put quality no quaintity in theire equipment nowadaws that goes up in value plus newer stuff of equal quality cost 10k or more or 5k for simalar quality which im sure you new the way to best way to do this is to get a caox to rca converter which is still the orange jack or better yet fiber optic cuz it has less of a delay cuz it uses a laser and you plug it into the input on the led tv hey are you still looking for an led tv have a nice one in great shape form 2011 but its not 4k or smart but the picture is amazing only 32 inches though but i paid 500 bucks at best buy for it so if you arent looking for too much this will give you an amazing picture for cheap and if you read one of my post up higher it mentions my tv and how newer led tvs dont always look as good and have a washed out picture i even stood up for crts cuz there lag free and have amazing blacks and contrast but if your going to buy a cheap 55 inch for 100 bucks youll probabally miss your old tv if its a good one like the ones i mentiond oh yeah i ment fiber optic output on led tv mine has one plus even some newer tvs especially the 100 dollar 4k smart tvs wont have one unless u get one everything works on my led tv its a samsung too and its a great model make i also have a asus smart box thats like a mini pc i only paid 60 bucks for it so ill even thow in the hdmi and fiber optic cable s for freei i might have a few hdmis stored somewhere in great condition the fiber optic is like brand new but not in box i know it still works to so does the laser on my tv hope i helped sry for the long message but i wanted to anser as many questions as possible and the converter will be about 15 bucks or les on ebay or amazons your best bet and i think our walmart carries em what brand and model is your receiver speakers tv etc

I just want to use the output from a pocket speaker to power my surround - I cut the stock speaker and replaced with my wired speakers the bluetooth quits within minuts even though it is plugged into the power outlet, Whats the deal all im doing is sending a signal im not using it as an amplifier, I fried two capacitors, Or are these pocket bluetooth speakers only good for one speaker- whats goin on with these things are they not designed for multiple speakers as im not using it for amplifying the sound i simply added more speakers so there shouldnt be an issue

@@BeebopChickenpock I don't know what you're talking about, but if your TV has an optical digital audio output, and the soundbar has an optical input, that's all you need to connect, one cable for sound, if the subwoofer connects to the soundbar wirelessly as most do these days. (The TV doesn't need to be Bluetooth, you're connecting the TV to the soundbar via optical cable (so the audio signal is routed from the TV to the soundbar that way) and the Soundbar then connects to the subwoofer(if there is one) wirelessly, passing the LFE channel data to be played there.) No, you don't need an amp or anything else if you are just connecting a soundbar to your TV, the only thing you need to make sure of is that you have a matching output and input on each device, i.e. optical audio, HDMI, digital coax, and get that cable.

1000 thousand watt powerinverter or what ever you need make sure the 120v end is the outpuit and cigarattte lighter is powerful enough if not wire to alternator or battery dont hook it up backwards itll catch fire and blow up soem vans have 120 volt outlls you could plug in a low power home theater like a walmart one or a lower end model and it woud work or you could ger a power inverter thets strong enough to power a croc pot to power home theater if its a small one just dont go ober 150 watts total power not per channel it wont work without a big ol power inverter

If you want true separation there is absolutely no way around it you need a home theater receiver or some sort of audio decoder that properly reads the audio output from the designed source and outputs it to the proper channels. If you have a Home theater receiver that is 5.1 and you want an Amp to boost the sound ( watts per channel ), you simply just can't buy a two channel Amp, because you'll only get stereo, you'll need a 4 channel Amp and use LFO/LFE ( low frequency out put or better terms The sub woofer) threw the Pre Amp. If you want proper separation you'll never obtain it by jerry rigging a system.

Thanks for the videos. How can I get really good sound and great bass around 50 people watching a 20 foot screen in an open air park. I feel I'll need lots of amp but can't seem to find a video going over that specifically or promoting a great system for that. The projector will be a Xgimi Horizon Pro 4K. If u like good sound wireless sucks. If u just want better than tv speaker sound that the wife aproves of wireless is acceptable. A proper setup. Wired 2.2 channel audio system is where its at guys. You wont miss all the extra channels. Had 7.2 setup. Its not worth it. Good quality2 channel is still very relevant. Speaker placement of 2 channel is fairly straitforward in any room. Match. The reason for two subs is you get more even in room response(two subs is definitely worth it over one sub)

Without a subwoofer, a sound bar is a joke.
@CajunReaper9525 күн бұрын
With a subwoofer a soundbar is a joke, everything is proprietary so you’re stuck with what you get, atleast with a dedicated surround sound receiver you have the option to upgrade your speakers overtime and built a complete system from the ground up and learning things along the way not to mention a lot of big name companies like Sony, Onkyo etc have home theater in a box with slot of them coming with powered subwoofers that utilize a single standard RCA audio cable making upgrading easy!
@mydogskips2 Жыл бұрын

@mydogskips2 Жыл бұрын
Of course, it's just that the manufacturers of soundbars need to sell them, so they advertise them as surround sound, and a lot of people believe it.
@CajunReaper9525 күн бұрын
They do ok for a while but once you hear a real surround sound system it’s a night and day difference, I had a 4.1 surround bar from Samsung and then later on after I beat cancer I decided to get back into home audio so my first purchase was a Yamaha 5.1 system then i upgraded the receiver to a Sony 7.2-5.2.2 receiver and upgraded from the Yamaha main speakers to a 5.0 set of Klipsch speakers and the subwoofer to an R-12SW from Klipsch and my height channels are some Sony atmos drivers I will never look back unless my mom wants a little bit of an audio upgrade than I’ll repurpose my old Samsung 4.1 for her so she can have a little bit of boom!
