You Don't Want To Miss Out On This Investment Opportunity. Don't overlook these rare Jefferson Nickels! The 1938 to 1953 Jefferson Nickel proof coins are extremely low mintages, as well as the 1997 Matte Finish Jefferson Nickel. If these ever take off then their value will dramatically increase, they just need a huge push.

Packaging for the 1938 Proof Set varied based by customer order since coins could be ordered individually. Generally, each Proof coin was placed within an individual cellophane sleeve with all sleeves stapled at the top. The bundle would be placed within a box or envelope depending on the quantity

I have a soft spot for the classic design Jefferson nickels because these were coins that I have been able to collect from circulation since I started collecting as a boy in elementary school in 1970. To this day I still occasionally search rolls of Jefferson’s looking for condition upgrades to place in my Whitman slider album. The cool thing about Jeff’s is that you do not have to pay more than face value to assemble a complete collection of business strikes. Even the 1950-D has been known to occasionally surface for lucky collectors from time to time. Better still is the fact that most of the proofs and major die varieties are also affordable to acquire if you are striving to assemble a really complete set of examples. So….while lacking the raw sex appeal of the Buffalo nickel, it compensates by providing endless hours of low-cost numismatic pleasure for collectors of modest means. But even numismatic WHALES can enjoy this series if you choose to pursue full-steppers, condition rarities, monster toned Jeff’s and rare errors and die varieties.

Love the videos you’ve put out on sleepers such as seated halves. I’m always amazed by the survival estimates of a lot of the 19th century coins compared to their market value. It would be cool if you could create more videos on this subject (seated H10, dimes, quarters, 19th century gold, etc.) since many collectors are unaware of this.

felix schlag received a decent number of the 38 proofs for his design. Unfortunately they didn't supply him with his original design as requested. The original patterns/ engravings were extremely elegant but were modified by the mint leaving us with the eyesore nickels we have today. I believe there is only one pattern/die trial of the original design

Maybe you need to be the enthusiastic/vigorous promoter of that series in order to launch larger collector interest. I remember once upon a time there just wasn't that much interest in Franklin 1/2 dollars, then that fellow (Tomaska? early '80's) after he had quietly been buying up large quantity of FBL and cameo and deep cameo examples (cheaply) and sending them off for grading, wrote a book, and started taking out full page ads in CoinAge and other publications touting the coins and his expert (self described/appointed status on the series. He was I believe a Southern California collector and small time dealer who blew up interest in the series almost singlehandedly making a small fortune too as he was holding some of the most amazing high grade examples at that point. Good positioning, good timing, willingness to jump in and promote hard where previously ,interest in the series had been kind of 'ho-hum', "yeah Franklins, so what" by most others in the field. So he became a market maker. Of course it didn't hurt that they are a larger coin, and 90% silver too.

Very interesting, Daniel, you have my interest. The Jefferson Nickle will take off a few years after the design changes to a different format. They are a great set of Proofs. I'm sure they will be worth a lot of money down the road. A good thing to have for your Grandchildren if one was to pass down to them for their retirement portfolio. I don't see them taking off soon but who knows? The only Jeff I have is a MS 65 1947 that I got from someone who gave it to me. 25,000 or less of any coin minted is a rare coin indeed! Better yet, nobody is faking them, always a concern when acquiring coins these days. I'm surprised the Billionaire crowd isn't cornering the market on these beautiful coins you showed us. Thanks for the tip!

Daniel, do you have a summary sheet of which coins you think are undervalued/investment opportunity/sleepers? I was an active coin collector in my teenage years and now that I'm retired I want to get back in. It doesn't hurt that now I have more money to spend on a hobby and can afford more of the 'good stuff' than I did when I was in high school, then working my way through college, then finding an Ohio girl to marry and moving her home to me in New England. I stopped collecting just as ANACS and PGC slabbing got started. I know I have some slabbed coins stashed away in the basement. I do cherish the memory of going to the long gone corner coin shop in my town and sitting at the counter for hours, going through the jars of Indian head pennies, flying eagle cents, wheaties, Mercury dimes, standing liberty quarters, V-nickels, buffalo nickels, spending my allowance on coins to fill in the holes in my Whitman albums. Yeah, I had a good understanding patient Dad on those Saturday mornings. He would drop me off, then go shopping with my Mom and family, then come back hours later to pick me up and maybe pitch in several dollars to pay for a coin I really wanted.

I have one of those special strike Jeffersons that came in a set with a Commem. Checking mintages then I was pretty happy to grab it and that was a almost two decades ago. But we know the Jefferson 5c are kind of a yawner besides those war nickels. Maybe buffalo nickels still dominate the denomination? They always had in the past. All things being equal, you can`t beat low mintage items really.

Keep the set - some Jefferson nickels as your video states clearly are undervalued. To me even the 1994 matte Nickel that was in the Jefferson coin and currency set is undervalued and a bargain. But yeah the proofs nickels from 38 - 53 are very undervalued when found in ncie condition and not marred by ugly toning. The 97 Matte is tricky as they never were put in circulation so survival rates will be quite high and the packaging does a much better job at preserving them than the proof sets from 38 - 53. Still it is undervalued but I think the best bet is the 42P you showed first.

I hope you'll be able to answer for me. First I' am a deported Vietnam War Veteran, so I am in Mexico, now there are many people who save pennies and sell them for copper. The question is; How can a just auction of some coins. Especially one in particular. I literally have both 1982 dates. The large date where the 8 is equal at the top to the other numbers and the two circles of the 8 are the same size. Then I have quite a few great quality 80s and 70's including 1 small date 82. So it's hard for me to get them graded o should I even grade them? Can you help me? What would be your comission?
@CoinHELPu
@CoinHELPu 2 күн бұрын
I recommend going to PCGS price guide to learn the values of your coins. It's only the 1982 D Small date on a copper planchet that is worth something, not the large or just small, it must have a D and weigh 3.1 grams. So you need to be using reputable sources for prices and for what is valuable and what is not.

@CoinHELPu
@CoinHELPu 3 күн бұрын
I am not here to argue. You stated the Jefferson nickel has little demand, which I agree with, but you said it was because there's no historical reference. I don't agree with that, the Jefferson nickel does and so does the person on it. What you implied and I didn't say, was they should be worth more because of the historical reference of the person on the coin. I didn't imply that. I highlighted why I think they should be worth more and that reason or these comments have nothing to do with cents or quarters. The Jefferson Nickel is just not an inspiring coin, it has nothing to do with lack of historical difference but lack of interest in the design and high mintages for most of the issue. People just don't collect the coin as much as silver coins. I think that is another reason, most are not silver. So not here to debate, I don't have the time, but I do not agree with your first comment and your second puts words in my mouth I didn't write.
