I guess most people saying that are just saying "sour grapes". On the flipside, MOST artists aren't doing anything worthwhile to anyone but themselves and they aren't contributing anything meaningful to society. You can say "therefore DaVinci didn't work" which is a fair point but 99.999% of creatives aren't DaVinci. Keep doing your thing, it's all love fr
