14:42 I think it has something to do with the wheels are spinning at the same speed, despite both wheels needing different speed when turning. Notice that when turning the inner wheels are forward because it have too much speed, the outer wheels are backwards because it doesn't have enough speed to match the inner wheels. Exactly why you need a differential in a car
@Nevir2022 жыл бұрын
Or more accurately, the outer wheel is being forced to travel a longer path, while turning at the same speed, so it's literally falling behind. Vs what happens with a real car with a welded dif, where the inner wheel over-rotates a bit.
@SivaMacca2 жыл бұрын
For the last one, you should have set all of them to the same speed. In the video they are all going the same speed, but because the distance between the sides is shorter the further down, they get offset but at slightly different rates. This creates the pattern you see
@Gaff2562 жыл бұрын
But the connection than is not controller based, but engine based. Don't forget, controller moves the arm by certain degree, but it's not affected by length. That would be 5 arms with tank steering, each arm with 2 engines. And a lot of gates in progress. Doable, but not worth the effort.
@SivaMacca2 жыл бұрын
@Gaff256 fair enough, I don't know much about the logic in the game, I play trailmakers, terra tech and one's like that since I don't have a pc yet. Thanks for the info though
@OG_Casual_Tryhard2 жыл бұрын
19:00 I'd like to see you revisit this, and try using pistons, because piston poles don't have collision, so you don't have to build a crazy convoluted contraption just for a post. Resulting in the ability to have more than 5-6 oscillating arms.

16:00 I haven’t seen that before but that’s cool it’s like a harmonic pendulum, it’s definitely a harmonic process
@DreadEnder2 жыл бұрын
15:00 that is correct in physics because scrap mechanic doesn’t have differentials or torque and power being applied differently to wheels depending on how much pressure is being applied to them so the wheels on the inside of the turn are moving the same speed but have less distance to travel so pulls forward whereas the wheel on the outside can’t keep up
@DreadEnder2 жыл бұрын

something ive tried to build a few times but have had trouble with is basically a reverse gyroscope, basically having a cluster of stabilizing suspension glitches in the middle, with bearings around it to make a 3d gyro around, the idea being that you can "push" off of the stabilizer to rotate in the air without needing thrusters or anything, i got it.... "working"... but id love to see you give it a shot :)

I like the bouncing design it’s really cool
@AgentWest2 жыл бұрын
That last build reminds me of mine from couple years back that got featured on this channel (EDIT: "Super Satisfying Creation"). Instead of bouncing it was just rotating, but it did line up from time to time. To be exact, with single arms it would be every 1, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, and 1/5th of the rotation. With double arms it was 1, 1/2, and 1/4, only even numbers. As for building this 'bouncing' mechanism, i think a better way to 'drive' it would have been controllers with dedicated flip-flop circuits. Each flip-flop is toggled by sensors. Speed is fine-adjusted via angle of each controller, actual speed setting is the same for all. At the start, all circuits are toggled on, then as each arm reaches the other side, it's sensor toggles the flip-flop and the arm returns, then the other sensor sees it, turning the flip-flop (and therefore the controller) back on.

If you put a couple friction blocks beneath the swing arm thruster device, then the whole system wouldn't have enough force to move backwards but it would move forward when the arm hit the stopper.
