Amelia's intervention- Ryan turns up and Amelia wants to leave with him. Addison confronts Amelia after noticing she has given him her father's watch. I own nothing all rights belong to ABC and Shonda Rhimes

For everyone asking. The show is called Private Practice. It is not Grey’s Anatomy but was a spin off with Addison leading the story in LA. The episode is in season 5 and is episode 8 which was called ‘The intervention’.
@PjD01505 жыл бұрын
Mel M Derek mentioned Amelia’s relapse when she came in Season eight with Erica and Cooper saying their case is too much for her to handle right now but I don’t think they truly knew everything. Amelia mentioned her never told her any of family about when she was pregnant and hers baby’s condition or death. When she joined Private Practice Amelia was working under another doctor as a fellow I think who was in town on one of Addison’s cases. She was fired then wanted to join Addisons practice in LA.

I absolutely love and respect Addison for this reason. Yes, Amelia is her ex-sister-in-law, but that doesn't matter to her. She was married to Derek for 10 years so his family was her family. And if you do watch Grey's and that episode in season 7 where Derek talks about how their father died for not giving up his watch and how he had to hold back Amelia as it happened---that watch had serious significance and Addison had a right to say what she said about it. Great acting by both Kate and Caterina. Bravo for this episode.

Shaniya Scott Addison isn’t telling the story just to gossip and reminisce about it. Addison knows the significance of that watch so she knows why giving it to him is a mistake. She is telling the story because she is reminding Amelia of why it is so important and it is not just some watch she can give away like nothing.

After watching Private Practice, i have a new respect for Amelia on Grey's Anatomy. I just found her annoying, and whiny. This is also the problem i have with introducing her to Grey's Anatomy. She has such a rich background already established, and its merely glossed over in Grey's.
@PjD01508 жыл бұрын
That is very true. But also she gets lost in the crowd at Grey's. Nearly every character in PPP I loved for various reasons, some more than others. Yet everything that makes her Amelia is lost there as people don't know her at all and who did, didn't hugely acknowledge it either.
@Croxby18 жыл бұрын
My biggest issue with Amelia on Grey's, is that she was shoved in our faces. And for those who didn't follow PP, she was someone you ignored when she was on screen. Which, was a lot when she became a main cast member. After one of the season finale's of Grey's, i was looking into other shows, and PP had been on my netflix que for a long while. When Amelia came on, i was like, 'nooooooooooo!' I'd forgotten that she was even on that show. That's how little of an impact she made for me on Grey's when she guest starred. But you got to see why she became unraveled. You saw her hit rock bottom, and you really felt bad for her. Like, yeah, you did this to yourself, but MAN you've had it rough. I just wish they had done a better job introducing her into the Grey's family. Her appearance would have made a much better bang.

+Croxby1 I'm so glad I watched both GA and PP. PP was amazing!
@PjD01508 жыл бұрын
Amelia was one of my favourites in PPP and I was very excited to have her on Greys. But her background didn't get transferred for viewers. People who have watched here her know her story but others who didn't don't. She's not going to spill her history to everyone but there is also no one there who truly knows her Derek included. Meredith was never going to be Addison in that respect. One problem I found when they brought Amelia to Grey's is that they got rid of James to allow for others but I think that set her back. Here she may have been the youngest in this crowd which was evident when she was first introduced with the filtering but by the end she had grown lot because of S4/S5. Which is missed on Greys.
@Croxby18 жыл бұрын
+jnky Oh, PP was a great watch! I need more Violet. Her arc with the baby was outstanding! I liked all the doctors, but the one who shocked me most was Charlotte. She made me laugh so much, and she became my favorite. It was kind of nice to go back to a smaller cast, cause you really appreciate things about all of them individually. You can see why they are so likable in their own ways. You tend to lose a bit of that with huge casts.

When you've seen season 14 of Grey's and realize that at this moment, Amelia had a brain tumor! This scene also made me realize that Amelia never got over the brutal way her father was killed and that the memory haunts her to this day. Sure, she spiraled after assisting her friend with suicide, but the root of Amelia's issues is watching her father get killed at a really young age.
@beccimarie5458 жыл бұрын

@Book_Dragon25628 жыл бұрын
I had never seen this scene before but wow that was powerful on all ends. Knowing the history of the watch from Greys the moment Addison zeroed in on it I knew this was going to be bad. Addison may not be married to Derek anymore (thank goodness) but she does genuinely care about Amelia and want what's best for her so it's understandable she wants everyone to realize how deep in Amelia must really be in order to give away the watch that cost her father his life. It's also important to realize that Amelia was by definition a junkie. When most junkies steal items of value they hawk it for money to feed their habit. Amelia gave her father's watch to the man she loved. I'm not saying that it's right, but it definitely adds another dimension to this argument. All in all, it was a moving scene brilliantly portrayed.

Obviously this shows a lot on Amelias character: she can be super defensive and closed off when it comes to her trauma, and probably the reason why she turned to drugs; and the anger and sadness she holds in on a daily, and only now REALLY shows it/ explodes, is very relatable. Also, maybe a controversial opinion, Ryan loved her. Maybe you think it was the drugs that made him seem like he loved her, but look at the way he holds her back when she tries to get in Addison's face. Look at the way he freaking whispers something to try to calm Amelia down, that shit is rare. Sometimes I wish he hadn't died to see how their life would've turned out, but then again, they did say that Ryan dying was her rock bottom.

Addison truly was Amelia’s sister. Only a sister (or sibling) would be willing to put that title on the line to give a reality check when who they love is at their lowest point. Addison was willing to risk a place in Amelia’s life so she’d start to get better. Most of the rest of the people here (if they knew the story) wouldn’t have had the guts to stick up to an addict like that. But Addison did and was willing to risk it all. THAT is why we love her.

I know her erratic behavior was because of her drug use, but what she said was pretty harsh, especially given that Addison was once a part of her family (and it's history) and only trying to help Amelia come out of this alive.
