My Blue & Red Healers were the same way. People had to pass the sniff test before they were allowed close to me. My boy Taz would always go after people's heels and he took more than a few shoes off of people. Sometimes they would laugh and other times they'd get mad, but they always got over it. LOL! All good dogo's do the sniff test, they check for the scent of their owner to see it others are known/safe. When approaching anyone with a dog its a good idea to make friends with the dog by letting it sniff you before making contact with the owner. Skritches and treats should be reserved until after contact with the owner imo.
