Rufus is right up there with Sly and the Family Stone and The Isley Brothers, in my opinion. I bought this album, Rags to Rufus, when I was a young dude. Smokin' Room and Tell Me Something Good are also great songs from the album.

Great upload. You know it’s live performance when you have feedback from a mic. Interesting choice in guitar too. You don’t see many players of the day playing a 60’s Fender Musicmaster. I was pleasantly surprised by the tone of the single coil pickup.

She is the ONLY female vocalist Aretha Franklin has EVER said was excellent. Remember, Aretha NEVER gave a female vocalist much credit EVER. Chaka is my all time FAVORITE FEMALE vocalist. Her VOICE and her catalog is my total favorite of all time. I loved Aretha but I didn't think she was consistent after the early 70's and Jennifer Holliday was EXCELLENT also but fell off early in her career but CHAKA, kept it going all around for me.
