Our guide does exactly what I want. He answers my questions or tries to help when I ask and leaves me alone unless something he really thinks we'd be interested in comes up.

Nice! Honestly, that's really all we're asking for in a guide. Hopefully, now that we have switched, we can at least get responses when we reach out.

We have multiple contracts too. How bought first resale at aulani for a very specific trip for my husband to include his folks. It was loaded x2 points and was just enough to cover the exact trip we were taking. Was it the best decision? I’m not sure we were trying to save on some of the points. Ironically we needed one more day of points,l for this same trip due to the air scheduled to Hawaii. So what did that mean yes add on now direct and I just was not adding to on 50 it I was doing that but 150 was too much. So we added 100 direct. We have subsequently added more. Now have blue card and added onto WDW copper creek resale again. It’s ok we have a blend enough to take Hawaii trips and a few to take Florida. Thought about Disney land but I do it like the very steep tax there. Likely only to book with my points and try to get into grand cal. Anyhow that’s our journey. I’m not too attached to the resale points, and didn’t pay a premium for them so it if I want to divest I’m quite happy I can easily do that and psychologically and take the few trips I want in the mean time. Ooh and I should add these noncommittal points give us a lot of flexibility. We can rent via rental company some and trade free a cruise which worked brilliantly for us this Xmas. We are coming down Dec 23 to stay at copper creek for 6 days followed by week long cruise. The Hawaii points paid for cruise and ccv new contacts get us nights there ahead of it. I didn’t book at ccv at 11 months more likely I’d 7 had the wait list etc but we have our trip. Anyhow this is amazing and I love we can do this with the points.

Hey you answered my question, thank you! But yes I never got in touch with my guide, I don't even know who it is... without calling member services how do you find out? Is it on your dashboard or something? I never needed help I guess.

Yeah! No problem! There are a few was you can find out the name of your guide without calling Member Services. First, they should be listed at the bottom of most DVC Marketing emails that you're getting. You can also find out who they are and their contact information using the chat feature on the DVC Website. . . which is so much easier than actually calling Member Services, but kinda the same thing. . . . Finally, in the off chance that you find yourself at Disney and/or a DVC property, you can also ask who your guide is at a DVC Kiosk. It's as easy as giving them your phone number so they can pull up your accoung and BAM they can tell you the name of your guide. 😄

Just like with their restaurants and really any other category anymore...the only thing consistent with Disney is their Inconsistency. I have noticed this across the board with them, particularly in the last few years, but their service has seen a steady decline. This is partly why they're seeing a decrease in park attendance. When you mistreat your customers, especially while raising prices they can choose to go elsewhere. We'll see what happens when Epic opens. Not gonna lie, sort of hoping they see a bit more of a hit in their numbers so that we might get some of the things taken from us back. Package pick up? Better Park Transportation? Free or Reduced prices for LL? Better Service? They won't change unless they're forced to based on business needs.

I have only been a member since 2019. My guide has only reached out to me once to answer a question I had about adding on. I actually don’t mind not hearing from him. I did request for him to get in contact with me or my husband once more info on the Poly was available. That didn’t happen. I’m kind of glad it didn’t because we’d probably end up spending more money if he did. We also own 2 contracts. Direct at Riv and resale at Aulani. It seems pretty common for owners to have multiple contracts.

Another vote to avoid Coral Reef....way overpriced for the quality and not worth it after 2 separate visits far apart in time.

I wonder what the performance metrics are for DVC members guides. How do supervisors currently determine effectiveness of guides? Are random surveys ever sent out to DVC members to collect feedback? Honestly though, members who are content with their guides and level of service probably wouldn’t respond to a survey without any type of incentive.

Sales. I'd be willing to bet that, for the most part, it's based on sales. I can't say I've ever been given the opportunity to do a survey or anything related to DVC specifically. Maybe on the phone when contacting Member Services. . . . but I may be mistaking that for something else. Honestly though, people don't take the time to do surveys one way or another. Some of us do! But most people can't be bothered.

My family of 3 ate at Coral Reef a few years ago. We were very disappointed. The ambience was lovely but the service was very slow and the expensive food was mediocre at best. We ate at 4 sit down restaurants during our stay and it by far was the worst. Try it if you dare😮.

haven't eaten at coral reef since before covid. it was not memorable (but it wasn't bad, either). best seafood on property, kind-of in order: shiki sai bluezoo flying fish all of them are great. i would eat at any of them, at any time. bonus points for monorail blue cameo...

Hm, I think your problems are stemming from the fact that you expected the DVC guide to resolve issues for you not related to sales. DVC guides are strictly for sales/purchases and anything else (including your issues with a stay) should be directed to Member Services or the appropriate DVC department. Guides aren’t staffed to act as personal contacts for members. Maybe your prior guide went above and beyond and so you automatically expected more from the next guide? It isn’t reasonable for them not to respond when you want info about purchasing DVC though so DVC should switch your guide. Guides absolutely aren’t going to tell you about special events on a regular basis though so if you expect that I think you will always be disappointed.

The major problem that I had with the new guide wasn't simply that they didn't go above and beyond. . . . it was that I was looking into making a purchase and was told they'd get back to me and they never did. So thats definitely an issue. In terms of resolving issues with my stay, contacting my guide was at the suggestion of the on site DVC reps who I spoke to after all other channels [including the resort & Member Services] failed. So while this is something I had been able to do with my previous guide over the years, I don't think it's unreasonable to think contacting a guide for help here was an option. . . . when it was DVC who suggested it. The same can be said for the special events. I inquired about something that was happening and was told by DVC that I was too late and Guides were reaching out to guests so they could participate. Respectfully, I don't think it's that I'm setting myself up for disappointment by expecting too much. I think that there's such inconsistent quality and standards coming out of DVC that it's difficult to figure out where the bar is in the first place.

@@2foolishmortals ugh sounds like they were just giving you the runaround. I don’t think anyone at Dvc should suggest that your guide would help resolve issues with a stay. And it really isn’t reasonable for a guide to not respond to a sales inquiry - that should be cause for an immediate switch to another guide. But in my experience guides only handle sales info and they have always referred me to other areas of DVC for any other questions at all.

@Traveling1482 Oh. . . I was DEFINITELY being given the runaround over the past few months! There's no doubt about that, which is why I've mentioned that it's been so frustrating trying to get this resolved. It should have never taken months of reaching out to DVC asking for help with my guide to arrive at a solution. . . . . especially if the main focus is sales. It's a little different when it comes to everything else though, like DVC suggesting that I reach out to my DVC Guide for anything beyond sales. There are definitely a lot of people out there who share your perspective on this, especially those who became Members in the past 10 years or so, but the idea of DVC Guides strictly handling sales is a relatively recent shift. When we became Members in the early 2000s, our guide was introduced to us as who we can reach out to for any issues related to DVC and they were that for the next 20-some-odd-years. Based on my experience, especially in the past few months, there are a lot of people at DVC who still function this way and expect that others within the company function this way as well. This was even illustrated when connecting with my newest guide for the first time. All this having been said, I think the main issue with DVC at the moment [not strictly related to Guides, but in general] comes down to what I mentioned earlier: there's such inconsistent quality and standards coming out of DVC that it's difficult to figure out where the bar is in the first place.

I have had a timeshare in the past. Not with Disney. I’m thinking, as much as you pay for EVERYTHING at Disney, it’s sad you couldn’t get assistance when you needed it. Unfortunately, that seems to be the new trend with Disney.
