The Etherwheel should totally have been a "targets any enemy" orb, it has the little dream catcher design that would've looked pretty cool appearing when it damages enemies.

Like if you use it you're 100% guaranteed a refresh and damage when it leaves the board but if you discard it you just get a refresh, and i never got into a situation where i HAVE to discard an orb otherwise i'd die so it seems pointless to me

The Etherwheel is really good for the relics like kinetic meteor that deactivate on refreshes. It lets you keep the effect, do good damage, and still refresh afterward.

I think instead of refreshing, it'd be cool if it reloaded your orbs without giving the enemy a turn, or maybe not giving a turn can be a tier 3 upgrade. It becomes infinitely more interesting imo and a situational orb that does better the later you get it in a reload.

The new boss's ability is shielding pegs. As the fight progresses, the boss blocks more pegs with shielding spells, preventing them from contributing damage.

The new map 2 _miniboss_ does that. The new final boss causes red bombs to appear. There were also some new shielded pegs in the old "AOE check" map 2 miniboss.

On the other hand most relics just wouldn't stack or offer flat bonuses that aren't interesting to stack. Although it would be pretty funny to have something like multiball 7 on all orbs or having the entire board start as bombs.

In case you're ever interested, you can certainly create some... interesting challenges with the custom loadouts. For instance, starting with nothing but three omegorbs (and a stone on cruciballs; I try to discard them when I can, especially since these are a bit op pre-floor 1 boss), or three ohmygorbs, or nosforbotus, infernorbs, echorbs (I'd recommend getting echo chamber too cause that's a surprisingly hard one), etc. optionally with sealed conviction so you can't even discard them (mind the buff). Three other interesting runs I've done so far have been: a) starting with only a necorbmancer and a morbidorb, as well as stinking wand of skulltimate power (scary but fun one); b) just a single refreshorb and the poker chip, and c) just one bob-orb... I tell you that was fun and frankly op with bomb synergies until I got to that new final boss and got steamrolled. Sidenote while I have your attention: Many thanks for the videos on this game, Tyler. I've watched all of them, and I tell ya I would never have played Peglin were it not for your dedication to it; and I've thoroughly enjoyed it since. Look forward to whatever wacky stuff you end up tryin' down the road with this game among others. :)

New relic idea: "One in the Chamber" -- saves up excess damage dealt to enemies... on reload, deal saved damage to targeted enemy. Orb version: "Relorb" (reload - orb) -- automatically comes with persist 1. Excess damage is saved until discard, in which the excess damage is dealt to targeted enemy.

@@TheHarleyEvans Would it really? Most elites and bosses are single targets with huge HP bars. You won't be storing any excess damage if you aren't overkilling your target anyways. Yes there are some fights where the main problem are the mobs.. yet if you don't have busted single target, overflow still won't help you. On the same note, one such fight was recently nerfed with added bombs, and it being too hard for single target builds was explicitly mentioned as the reason for it. Personally, I'd wish they addressed the AoE issue through targeted orbs. Something on the lines of 1/2 damage to adjacent enemies. Targeted orbs seem to already be the "single target" alternative to AOE, and setting them as a solid middle ground between the two archetypes wouldn't be a leap too far from what they currently are. Still, it's just my opinion. I'm not a game designer, I just give things a thought and write walls of text on the internet.

I think all the Bramball needs is to still bramble the board when it kills. As is it rewards you for failing to kill enemies, which you don't want to do. Maybe drop a bramble bush on the ground where the enemy was for 50% of the duration the original bramble was gonna do so higher levels are more impactful.

Perhaps the Etherwheel could be: T1- Refresh board when leaving. T2- +Refresh when discarded. T3- +Refresh when shot. I still feel like that is too similar to the refresh orb like you were saying. Perhaps the T3 could also do any actions from refreshing twice (maybe thrice?).

I'd suggest it start mixing and matching. Doing a few different things instead of focusing on one thing. Give it echo or throns or upgrading the pegs it refreshes or something weird.

Personally I somewhat like the etherorb. Sure, it's a bit "basic", and similar to the refreshorb, but I personally like that. Whereas refresh-orb has some interesting consequences and more power on grids with a lot of pegs (especially with gift that keeps on giving), the etherball is just a nice, solid-damage orb that also has some pleasant refresh capabilities (i.e. less risk-reward and more versatile). It almost "fills the gap" between refreshorb and other orbs. But that's just my five cents and a cup of tea on the matter. :)

The reason it took so long for those dudes to come in during that Mines fight was because you hit them with a Bramball as soon as they spawned in, keeping them from moving from the only spot new enemies can appear from.

Just to inform, you the pegs that vanish at the end of the level/fight are the ones you've hit previously and will be slightly greyed out while the ones you didn't are still white, keep that in mind when you're clearing Fights but still want to use your healing boots afterwards. this was the case for before, so there wasn't any update that just made the pegs all of a sudden just make those you hit vanish, it's always the ones that you've hit during the fight.

Etherwheel synergies: Pumpkin Pi to be teleported back up and go again, and Matryoshka Shell. One ball leaves but the other multi ball gets refreshed. Are there any other highly synergistic relics? You should consider using icircle more. By default, it pierces one enemy or all enemies on crit. It also pierces right through a single peg, which can be useful to get into closed off spaces to bounce around a lot

I think the change with more pegs at the exit actually has to do with gift that keeps on giving. It removes any peg that was cleared when you choose your exit, but now if you didn't clear all three hits of a gift peg it doesn't count as removed.

Thought the pegs you didn't hit were always left after fights. The mirror did bounce the stone back, you have puppet, thats also why you thought the dude missed because bramball. Also the enemies didn't show up because Bramball trapped an enemy at the edge.

Huh, not only did they add a new boss but new variations too. When I fought it, the whole peg board was covered in white tiles that disappeared after being hit. That run I was using the custom builds feature to see how high of numbers I could get with a single hit, so I didn’t see what the boss did, but it looked the same as far as it’s back up units, map sprite, and the boss itself

Cool way to buff the etherwheel is by making it reload when fired AND when leaving the board. Maybe decrease the damage, because it would be pretty overpowered otherwise. Would probably be a level 3 upgrade, so discard refresh can be moved to level 2

I found a goated synergy that one shotted the big funny wall boss. Its matryorbshka with the chip relic and overwhammer. any relics that increase damage or do things relating to the pegs you’ve hit also help greatly. Also one shotted the boss in this video ;)

The enemies weren't missing because they were brambled but because you had a relic that made the first hit miss.

Plus technically as long as it's active the enemy in the boss or the actual boss itself can't exactly...hide. They *HAVE* to *Stay put* .

Ether wheel should give the next ball garenteed crits when it leaves the board

The ether wheel should also refresh when it enters the board acting like a free shot at the start or a guaranteed full refresh with the bonus of damage (edit:swapping leaves for enters)
