🇱🇦You have to be local enough to appreciate that these places exist

Hi folks, NatNomad here. An ex-Buddhist monk from Laos with a big dream of seeing the world. Throughout my time for over 10 years being a monk I kept asking myself this one question "What life is like out there beyond the monastery?" And because of this question alone made me take a big step in 2014 when I finally say goodbye to my wonderful monastic life.
And now I'm doing what I've always wanted to do. Though I am not quite sure if I can say that I'm living my dream but you know what I'm loving my new adventure.

Im always on the lookout for these very local stalls and joints! Very authentic and usually much cheaper than the ones in the central and touristy areas! I like this video a lot, Nat! Like you said, areas that locals mostly go to

In the south I really recommend Pakse and Paksong because they're only 37km apart. Wonderful nature. Vang Vieng is worth checking out. Ning Khiaw and Phonsavanh are nice too.

From someone living in the west,selling meat without refrigeration thats very unhygienic. so much poverty in Laos.

It can be unhygienic, especially near the busy street with all the dust. Some Lao people like it that way it means it's more fresh. Those meats were brought out of the slaughter house early in the morning.
