It can be so discouraging to feel like one is backsliding! More discouraging IMO than sometimes being unable to think of the right word(s) in one’s native language, b/c (a) one knows the native language vocab is in there somewhere and (b) one didn’t have to WORK for native language vocab etc. in the same way that learning a second or subsequent language needs intention and concerted effort. Good to remember that everyone (who has any self-awareness!) feels that way sometimes too.

Oh, I know! It's the worst! But yes, it's pretty much a universal experience and that hard-earned language hasn't actually gone anywhere, it's just on low-signal today ;)
