I remember you saying something like "You have to have a story." You do that very well. I do like seeing the food you fix/eat, the drone footage, the photographs and hearing about the history of places. My only suggestions would be more footage of flowers/plants/ birds and I am curious about local foods on offering if you go into cafes. That said, I'll be watching in future because your vlogs are so interesting just the way they are.

Hi from Spain. The informational tips about driving on country roads are very useful for those who are more familiar with driving on major roads. One point you missed is 'when overtaking a tractor check for any turnings or access points that the tractor might suddenly turn into' - farmers are notorious for not signalling.

I look forward to trying my hand at all of this this once I get over some of my current issues. Keep ‘em coming Ken and Carol… keep ‘em coming.

Just a point about the farming, massive fields with no hedgerows is really bad. Lincolnshire does it similar. They are barren of everything bar the crop. Alot of farms are tuning away from that style of cataclysmic farming as it wrecks the soil.

Problem is that here in the UK, more and more greenbelt land is being turned over for housing, so that's why we are losing all our farming land and other open spaces. Plus France is over twice the size of the UK and their population is not much different to here, so hence the reason for more open spaces. I read a while back that the UK will eventually be as built up like Hong Kong is ☹️. Fortunately, I'll be dead and gone by then 🤣
@LifeistooshortCK2 жыл бұрын
It was very obvious when we were driving around that there was much more space than in England and all the fields looked so much bigger. Even the little country lanes weren’t closed in with walls and hedges like over here. It is sad seeing all the housing estates going up but I suppose people have to live somewhere.

In the Uk pedestrians now have total priority and can cross the road anytime anywhere, cyclists are next in priority having to only give way to pedestrians, etc. the larger the vehicle the more you have to give way basically under the new diktat. Basically a recipe for chaos because if someone decides to cross the side road you want to go down for instance you will have to wait in the main road.

The mosies come from the water,p get in your van & find you at night. It's the CO2 you emit - I'm a "sweet meat" to them too. It's the same for them emerging from grass @ dusk time onwards. Personally I have allergic reactions to them so I have to use DEET (Jungle Formula) even in UK to keep them away & long sleeves & legs in clothes at night. I use tea tree oil & lavender oil to soothe them. Sometimes it's a visit to GP for antibiotics if they go bad. I have 2 Uncle's lost in WW1, no resting places just Commemorated on Loos & Arras Memorials. Wish I could visit those. Maybe you could do a WW1 Memorial sites tour as there are so many. I think many people like me who cannot get out could add names of stops like these to the list. Oops go to go as I have been bitten by a UK mosie. Here I go again! Keep on with vlogs! X

I am 63 and Carol is 61. 👍 Vans are really personal things and I would recommend visiting a retailer to have a good nosey around the various layouts. It costs nothing to look and you can learn a lot by just sitting in them and imagining what you will need to do during a day. When you have seen a few you like the look of hit youtube to see people who already have one. Then its all down to budget and availability. This is our first van so we are no experts. We had caravans for years. Boy do I wish I had started with a van. They are so much easier than towing. If you want to wild camp don’t go to big. If you stay on sites size does not usually matter. Fixed bed is really nice. That’s the only thing we miss from our caravan days.

How to improve your videos……that’s a very difficult one. They’re composed of different segments which, for me, keeps them interesting….scenery via driving or drone filming, the drama involved in finding suitable parking spots, cooking in the camper (why do I need at least one mealtime with you per episode?😆), visits to places of interest, shopping and cafe visits. Sorry, this isn’t very helpful…..can’t think of any improvements other than more of them or longer episodes….which I realise isn’t feasible. Just thanks for all the work that goes into these vlogs.

Hello carol and Ken you say let you know what we like what I like is the way you explain what your doing and the history around you. Can I be nosy when carol is eating her pizza there are keys hanging up why take the keys out if your only stop to eat and Ken the is a pad to replace the rear view merrier you get in haltfords you should try for the mik

We are well into the habit of putting our keys in the same place whenever we stop so that we always know where they are. This is particularly important when we sleep. If you have to move quick you need to know where they are. I never leave them in the ignition when I am not driving. I have dealt with too many drive offs caused by that 😁👍

I keep coming back on your site, wondering why? Food/history/landscapes/walking-paths/enz enz. 🙂, in 2 or 3weeks I'll hope to finish my small van and track your 'routes'! Greetings from Rotterdam.

There is virtually nothing that I DONT like about your videos. I like the places you go and the conversations you have with each other as you drive. I like it that you take us shopping with you and show us how and what you eat in your little van. I really like it when you show us the interesting things you see, and that you show us what doesn’t work out for you. I like the drone shots with lovely music and that you don’t use music all the time. Just keep up the good work!

Do you put the top down before you sleep for the night? Thanks for the drone shots! They are almost always my favorite. The food looks very good! I’d imagine you could end up with a surprise meal if you can’t read French. Thankfully we have on our phones translating apps. There’s definitely more square miles in France so much more room to plant crops. Our home is surrounded (other than the road in front of our house) by corn fields this year. Some years it’s soybeans. Have a great day, Mary

Thanks Mary. We only put the roof down at night when it is very cold or windy or if we want to be stealthy and make it look like there is no one in the van. 🙂

Those French day-trippers were most likely fruit and vegetable pickers waiting for the company bus to take them to work.

Your videos are lovely , full of good information of the places you both visit and your drone footage is very professional just as good and sometimes even better than the documentaries on the television also your voice over is so clear. Just continue what you both doing its our best to watch on KZbin xx
