WOW. Cobain intentionally sang a lot of the syllables flat on the original recording. Sophia captured that really well, both through the more mellow parts and the really loud parts. She’s a gem. And the horns really nailed the chorus; takes a lot of breath to maintain those notes at that volume. Awesome!

I love this version, its so good, and Sophie is incredible, but it just makes you realise the sheer emotion that went into the original of that song, everything else will just be a cover, brass against make you feel one thing by listening to this song, Nirvana make you feel something completely different. It's incredible the power that music has, and that interpretation means so much.

They actually played Wenatchee last year by themselves, as well as (I think) the White River Amphitheater in some big package tour. I saw the Wenatchee gig. It was good but very strange: outdoors, at night, in the courtyard of the downtown arts building, during that horrific heat wave last summer. Neither Sophia nor Mariel were with them. Not sure whether the audience - who seemed to consist mostly of the movers and shakers of Wenatchee's arts scene - really got them all that much.
