Welcome to the first episode of Fiber and Floral- A knitting (and sewing) podcast.
Creative Community has always been something I cherished, and after a few months of lurking and watching all of your lovely videos, I wanted to respond with a video of my own. Talking about what I'm knitting currently and my goals for 2024- including my first colorwork sweater.
I'm glad you're here!
Here are some of the lovely makers that I've enjoyed listening to:

this was so fun to watch, love your energy !! To answer your questions, id still recommend fingering weight socks, DK ones are less comfy, even if faster! And to make the counting easier on the sophie scarf, i placed a removable stitch marker every 3 garter bump ! other people say you can also count the rounds on the i cord, as those are knit stitches, it's easier to see! Hope this helps !

Vanissia! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and help me with my questions! Such a good idea to use the stitch marker. I can’t believe I didn’t think of that 🙈 but I’m glad you said something. I’m going to try that today.

This was so much fun! I really enjoyed watching your first episode and finally have a somehow local Knitting Podcast now. 😅 I was having the same issues with my Sophie Scarf and already started it twice. 🙈 I think I’m gonna frog and redo it again and this time I will place some stitchmarkers in every increase so I keep track on where I am. ☺️

Ah thank you for watching! ☺️ I’ve been so happy to “meet” other knitters in our area! Yes, I think stich markers might be the key! I followed a tip that somehow else suggested and am keeping a stich marker on the i-cord edge when I increase. This has helped so much, and has made it more enjoyable to knit. I’ve done more work on it in the last 2 days than I have in the last month and it’s growing quickly! I hope it works for you too!

Hi Bekah: The Marieke Sweater was my first attempt at color work sweater. I had several failed attempts. However, finally I was successful but the wool I used was too stretchy. The sweater came out too big. So I frogged it last year. This year I attempted to knit it and I misread the instruction somewhere and I messed up and had to frog! I have knitted two other color work sweaters besides this. Maybe I will try it again one of these days! I bought the Field Sweater as soon as it came out! I tried to knit it but could not understand it so I had to frog it. Subsequently, there are tutorials on how to knit the grains. I am not so inspired to try again yet. Several Podcasters also mentioned it was not so easy to knit. Thank you for sharing! Happy knitting! ❤

I also had several failed attempts, but I bought Anna’s book on colourwork for beginners for Christmas and that has really helped me find the right tension. That being said, I really didn’t like how Marieke increased and may look into alternatives ways of doing this in the future. But the design is just lovely. I also bought the field sweater when it was released (it actually came out on my birthday ☺️) and the grain is so hard to understand. @mostlyknitting on KZbin has row by row tutorials that make it so easy though, and I’d highly recommend. She’s lovely. It was a hard pattern, but it’s just stunning and the one I get most compliments on. Thanks for watching! I really appreciate you being here!

Becca I loved the video you are such a sweet soul ❤❤❤ I’m not the most experienced with fixing knits but I always overestimate the elasticity of necklines when sewing and then I end up adding a slit in the back after sewing it 😅 maybe there’s a possibility to do that with the knitting? Like not doing the yoke in rounds but rows and making a little buttonhole at the top?

Thank you for watching and your kind words! That’s a great idea. That kind of neckline is often included in baby sewing patterns and I hadn’t even thought of trying it with the sweater. I will definitely give this a go and report back!
