It took almost $300 to get the car back. The current HOA person tells me that I was assigned the wrong spot 3 years ago. He gives me a different spot. About 2 weeks later, the car was towed again because that spot supposedly belonged to someone else. Another $300 to get the car back. I was told that it was my fault for parking in the wrong spot (again) and that I am now “on notice” for parking violations.

So it's more like you voluntarily submit to their rules in exchange for a benefit, like high property values, a nice well kept community, and in theory ameneties like a clubhouse or pool you can access that isn't open to the public

As someone who lives somewhere without a curfew at 9pm, I'm flabbergasted that this entitled man would dare question this rule that is obviously there for his and the community's safety. I'm constantly looking out my window for the bad scary people that walk around after 9pm

Are people in gated communities really this insufferable?
@sambenham19454 ай бұрын
No. If they are then they’re usually boomers who have nothing to do but complain about everything

You chose to live with an HOA. You get to pay for the privilege of having them tell you when to go to bed.

I used to visit relatives in communist East Germany when the place still existed. I swear, that place, with all its self important Stasi snitches, was more liberally minded than some of the gated communities and HOA administered communities I've had the displeasure to have seen in the US. I wouldn't want to live in one of those places if it was for free.

"Life isnt fair" said the guy that benefitted from two of the biggest economic booms in the history of man that spent his youth reaping the benefits of an amazing job/real estate market and probably went to college for free via the GI bill

I live in a gated community. Everyone walks at all hours of the day and night.

We live in Lakewood. In Millcreek Pa. It is the oldest HOA in America. The first. It is in the national registry. All it does is maintain the electric poles and street lights.

Don’t get me wrong I would NEVER live in a HOA for this exact reason…but if I did I would follow the rules I agreed to when I bought a home in that community 🤷♂️
