Zaire wasn't that far of, the first war litterly is called a little brother of ww1 with massive trench networks and full on trench warfare, and the second one kicked of with a officer hijacking a few Boeing's and having his men paradrop into the capital. Also the crocodiles became so use to human flesh that they would sit and wait for more bodies to be thrown into the rivers, and the UN reported piles of bodies litterly blocking rivers.

@@Hugawt I’m Polish, so I noticed it immediately - I also noticed that the first words of the Ukrainian anthem are basically the same as Polish. It turns out that Mazurek Dąbrowskiego has influenced many anthems

‘90s In former soviet countries was probably so horrible, 2400%+ inflation, corrupt politicians, rigged elections, dissolution of the USSR, oligarchs… I don’t want to imagine how mich suffering that has brought the people.

My father got to experience the 90s in both America and Bosnia, he had fun in San Diego during the 1990s but claims he saw some of the worst horrors in Bosnia when he was still in the US Army. He talked about Desert Storm but never never went into to much detail about Bosnia just gave the impression it was terrible.

Balkans 90 were literally hell for yugoslavia, first the death of tito, then serbian nationalism, the war of independence slovenia, croatia and bosnia, and when finally things seem to chill montenegro gets independence and kosovo war

Pro tip, it is easier to do theese images static, then to arrange them on a free editing software than to deal with that pesky flippa clip watermark. As a serb, I need to say that the 90's were brutal in former yougoslav countries, the more for the bosnian muslims because of the war crimes that the serbs and the croats had made on them

The first thing I remember of 1990 as a German was winning the Worldcup with Matthäus, Klinsmann, Rudi Völler and just the old crew :) Singing "We are the champions" with my classmates in first grade. ^^ Reunification in 1990 somehow slipped my 6 year old's memories but I just remember travelling to this grey, rotten part of Germany where there were no colours and the streets were bad and it smelled like burning coal ... so glad to get back home after a visit in Schwerin in the eastern part of Germany. Nowadays its a great holiday destination.

My country Bulgaria is a post communist one. My dad lived there and said he was a kid when the President suggested the use of tanks against the anti-government demonstration in December 1989 with the phrase 'The tanks had better come' (which I think he referenced the Tiananmen square massacre) . Thanks got that never happened and unlike the other former communist countries we got away without bloodshed

Because most Chechens at that time were jihadists. The real hell was not for those who killed Russians from the 91st, but for those who from the 94th sent 18-year-olds to death on the streets of Grozny in unequal battles or under torture in captivity.
