Steven universe means so much to me because it had such a big impact on my childhood and my identity. spinel being poofed (i think) and then coming back actually makes sense. if the corruption hasn’t touched their Gems, then it only affected their physical form, and poofing gets rid of it. so i just imagine after she got poofed, there was just a spinel shaped outline of the glitch and it regrouped with a bigger blob of the glitch after she went into her gem. But if it gets directly on their Gem, well they’re basically just screwed. Steven’s a special case tho.
