Old guitar strings make good wire burners. You even get a (limited) choice of wire widths!

В моем детстве любой мальчишка запросто делал свистки из куска липовой ветки. Для изменения тона свистка с обратной стороны должен располагаться двигающийся поршень! Удачи! In my childhood, any boy could easily make whistles out of a piece of lime twig. To change the tone of the whistle, a moving piston must be located on the back side! Good luck!
