Lyrics: I've accepted that I'm never gonna make it large. I'm getting older and I really don't want to starve. All I want is a job that I don't mind. Alas the puzzle pieces multiply all the time. You'll never be a rockstar, that's okay. They're all self-important morons, anyway. People making millions off your soul. You'll never be a rockstar, no no no. I'm getting better with the cognitive dissonance. But still, playing guitar just makes sense. What a whiny tw*t I must seem. But it's time to wake up from the dream. You'll never be a rockstar, that's okay. All the kids are into Tik-Tok, anyway. People making millions off your soul. You'll never be a rockstar, no no no. Solipsistic, egotistic is the path. Makes sense it's damn hard to make a living off art. Never wanted the fame, the money or girls. I guess there's other things I can offer the world.

This is really touching. As an older musician who’s dreams …….ah…are complicated I found this particularly moving. There’s a bit of cope in there (ironic or not, who knows) but that just makes it all the more effective. This is a subject I’ve tried to address in song and not had a ton of success. My friend has a podcast about people who’s dreams didn’t come true. It’s rich territory.

i was a mechanic for about 8 years because i thought it was so cool and my father taught me to work on cars as a child. i eventually quit because i hated the fact i was working on cheap throwaway cars, with cheap throwaway tools. everything in the industry is created around planned obsolescence. but also the service writers and service managers, pencil pushing middle men, made their money hand over fist off the backs of technicians. every dollar we make, they make 10. i also hated the type of guys that career field attracted. mechanics are absolute idiots, but they all believe they are the last living man with any common sense.

I always wanted to be a rockstar, but unfortunately i am pathetically talentless.I tried learning the guitar, but failed miserably: my hands aren't fast enough.Tried learning how to play the piano.Failed that too: it was too much for my pea brain.Tried singing too,but anyone who would hear me sing would just chuckle awkwardly. And the worst of all i gave up.I am disgusted by myself.I'll never be a rockstar and that's okay, but i will never stop hating myself for giving up and not being able to start again I've lost hope.I am sorry.
