First lock-knife I ever had. When I was about 10 years old. Didn't have restrictive obsessive knife control laws in the UK then and strangely enough didn't have so many stabbings either! Most boys had a pocket knife or sheath knife then. A really good knife that lasted years and in many tasks. These days, wouldn't be able to carry it in the UK!

@@Leftyotism In Texas "knife" was removed as a category of weapon in 2017, and now you can carry any bladed items you want, including machetes on your back if you're dumb enough to do that. Only restrictions are where you can't carry blades, like schools and courthouses. Before 2017 we had oddly restrictive knife laws considering the ideas people have about Texas (which are almost all wrong, by the way). Funny enough there wasn't a rash of stabbings when the knife laws changed. Imagine that...

I've owned one of these k55k knives for a bit now. I got the Carbon steel knife and it came out of its sleeve razor sharp. I love the blade shape, the handle, and it is one of my favorite pocket knives. It has only been replaced in my pocket this week by the Kershaw Culpepper. I've long loved Barlow style knives and the Kershaw is a single size large Barlow that feels good in my hand. I'm a sucker for traditional or classic knife designs like the k55k, Opinel, Culpepper, and Swiss Army Knife

Given that the thing about Douk Douks is that they are made of six pieces of tetanus-flavoured metal, assembled by an old Frenchman with a mallet, I would never expect too much in the way of quality control. The review of a full-sized Douk Douk and its remorseless back-spring could be entertaining, particularly if some time with the mini version has encouraged a little complacency. Respect where it is due though. The collection of old school knives, just itching to bite their owner whenever he gets careless, is starting to look impressive, for an American.

Opinels are fantastic knives, and tough to beat for value, but the Mercator is just a much more capable knife overall. For me the Opinel is inherently limited to very light duty use. The Mercator on the other hand can handle just about anything you throw at it. It's on the heavy side for its size, but that's about the only downside.

I don't think so. I have seen many knives described as a spear point without one. Just scroll for a few pages below. www.bladehq.com/?search=spear+point The problem with knife shit in general- is it seems there are no completely agreed upon technical definitions of knives and knife parts. Sure some people claim to be experts.... but the rules and definitions are bent by so many knife makers, at this point it's difficult. I dunno... I have spent many hours pouring over product pages, and by no means do I know much more now than I did a few years ago.

I would like more classical music and dancing please. Lots of dancing.

I'm gonna do a review of a battery powered chainsaw hopefully soon. I may try and find some music and pull out the slow mo on that one. One thing I don't like about the slow motion stuff is I can't see how well it's framed... so I have to guess- and I often don't like the shots after I review the footage. Oh well.

Oh, not you dancing. Scantily clad young women dancing with chain saws...add Slow Mo...well, now you've got your upscale viewer dynamic algorithms covered.

So between this and the Douk-Douk, you can get either an adorable kitty cat motif on the scales OR in the case of the Douk-Douk, the horrific, bizarre countenance of a tribal secret society band of thieves and rapists, essentially leaf-clad terrorists!!
