RECIPE (2 servings, 20min prep time): Filling: -1 onion -2 cloves garlic -2 carrots Finely chop and fry in some oil. -200g tofu or mushrooms -3 Tbsp soy sauce -1 Tbsp vinegar -1 Tbsp agave -1/2 Tsp ginger powder -2 Tsp corn starch Stir everything in. -10 pieces rice paper Cut the rice paper in half, dip in water and lay two pieces on each other. Add some filling and fold to close. Fry in oil until crispy everywhere.

I like to air fry these, they get so crispy and the oil doesn't pool on the dumplings.

Protip: Mix in water to your cornstarch and make it into a slurry before adding to your pan. It will reduce the likelyhood of clumping

I just made these and it's the first recipe where I actually like tofu! I made two batches, one with tofu and one with minced beef for my bf and wow, tofu is sooo much better! I also used nappa cabbage to have more filling. Buuuut I have to say, everything (chopping, sauteing, rolling and frying) took me almost 2 1/2 hours :D But it's really worth a try!

I tried these and was very pleasantly surprised. I'm trying different tofu recipes and i didn't like most of them, but this one was very delicious. I added tomato paste for a tang and to bind it together and it was very delicious 😋

These look pretty good. There are many asian recipes which are vegan and so good. So for this cuisine it perfectly works. The problem is, away from Asia, it is nearly impossible to find vegan specialities to try.

You can make the rice paper for pad see ew....make it wet and stack them 4-5 papers,and when they're not so clear/white.. Cut it😁😁😁 hack version but worth to try

Tips: if you deep fry them in much more oil that would be even more crispy and flip those around to get the most crispy sides of them

I know making the dough for dumplings from scratch takes more time, but why use rice paper instead of the wrappers you can buy specifically for dumplings? Genuinely curious

Also in Germany you can find rice paper in most bigger supermarkets or organic markets while shopping for everything else you need. For dumpling wrappers you'd have to travel to the next big city and hope to find a specialized Asian market or buy them online. So it could just be out of convenience.

You should look into 'paneer' it's texture is very similar to that of tofu but it's made with milk and believe me it's really good in fillings and other dishes

Cold water is fine, don't soak them too much or they go slippery. Just a couple of seconds, take them out of the water and wait a few seconds and they will go floppy and sticky. You'll get it right with a little practice.

I bet you can not break the rice paper and make it bigger like an egg roll shape. I had one of the best Vietnamese eggrolls and they deep fried them with rice paper. Maybe brush some oil and airfry it for a healthier choice.
