Umberto, I love your work so much and this is my style to paint. I only began painting watercolor 8 months ago and I'm terrible! LOL What advice would you have for us very new beginners to push past our negative feelings about our own work? Lately, I feel depressed because I cannot paint what is in my head to a blank sheet of paper. The more I learn, the worse I get. Thank you for your magnificent postings of your beautiful art. I LOVE how you paint with your whole body. It's a joy to watch yo. Thank you very much.
@umberto.rossini6 жыл бұрын
it is likely that you are on the right way. first I only worked for the trash, but it is a sign that we are not coloring but painting and it's difficult at the beginning. The more important is that you feel good when you are painting. The result is not really important. The more important advice i could give you is : paint and paint again and again, you will be surprise to constat that it's the key (95%) for progress.

Hi, how do you obtain those brushstrokes with white dots? You just add less water and more paint? Or is it a matter of the brush? And by the way, what paints do you use, watercolour in tubes or in cakes? Thanks!
@umberto.rossini6 жыл бұрын
Hi Lana I use tubes, but cakes works well also. For white dots, there are several parameters : paper ( rough or fine granulation) , amount of water inside the brush, the speed of the brushstroke, and also the kind of brush. Speed is very important , so you must do exercices to get a confident brushstroke. Of course, a rough granulation paper is better (for white spots). I think that it don't request a lot of time to get a good result , the problem is more to get the white spots when and where you want with a good accuracy.
@LanaDiPati6 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for such a quick response! Well, I paint only with cakes, I have never used tubes. And I have never managed to get this dry, dotty result. Maybe it's easier with the tube paint, because you can use less water with it. Now I have bought a rough thick paper prepared for acrylic paints, so maybe this will do. I will keep trying :)
@krakentowa87276 жыл бұрын
I only use pans (cakes) and you can easily get that effect - you just have to test out the brush on paper to make sure you dont have too much water in it and use a quick and confident stroke. Rough paper helps.

очень хорошо!!!-скажите пожалуйста какими красками ВЫ рисуете?,,,
@marcello.mutti757 жыл бұрын
Complimenti per la scioltezza e la libertà del gesto... Volevo chiederti come ottieni le penellate "rough" che lasciano spazi bianchi. E' questione di pressione del pennello (gesto) o di saturazione del colore? ovvero serve poca o molta acqua? Grazie
@umberto.rossini7 жыл бұрын
It's a little bit all of that , speed is also very important ( so you must be confident when you give your brushstroke) and of course the paper, rough granulation will help a lot.

Thank you for your replay. It's not a recommendation. It's just my impression on the way of painting. I do not have time to paint, and the materials I appreciate are pretty expensive. Watercolor is quite appreciated by effects but also complicated as technique. I prefer to use acrylics. Good work.
