I think we also need to learn our own bodies. We all know sugar isn’t good for you. But what they recommend means more than just following a certain written regime. It means understanding food and your own reaction to certain foods. AND what IS food? Not boxed, packaged, etc.

The best is none. Look at the ancient Egyptians skulls, scanned to find infection. Also half height, especially the rear molars as well as being dead flat. Yes, the cause is the use of sand to help grind the grains to flour, however the statues show pot bellies and poorly developed physic. Also man boobs. High levels of teeth crowding. Hugely bread based diet. Compare these skulls to pre Egyptian and the difference is stark. Also fully developed wisdom teeth top and bottom WITHOUT teeth crowding. They had a totally different diet.

we need to be more specific when talking sugar. The title needs edited. It's gotten so generally stigmatized that people are actually dropping fruit or making it an uncommon/rare part of their diet. We need to talk moderation and types. Dr Hyman's not as bad as other prominent health voices but can be better.

It's DNA and nutrition. It's everything. All these health & nutrition gurus interview each other, armed with all this technobabble to sell books and supplements etc. One says keto, another vegan. intermittent fasting, fiber, no-fiber. blah blah.
@chanchan5349
@chanchan5349 7 ай бұрын
It isn’t even DNA. You may have markers for certain diseases but that doesn’t mean you WILL have that disease. It means tread carefully to prevent that disease. We’ve had so much unhealthy food marketed to the public that we began believing the marketing. Processed food has also changed. Now there are more chemicals added to what used to be a trusted brand. It’s infuriating. We have to read everything before buying & know as much as a biologist to figure out if bugs or what kind of chemical sugar is added to everything. Honestly, it’s easier buying whole food. Learn how to cook it quickly or learn to prep when you have time.

Why do carnivores say fiber is not necessary, that fiber is overrated? Where are they getting this info? So confused here
@autisticpepefrog
@autisticpepefrog 7 ай бұрын
My understanding is that meat doesn't have carbs and because of this there is no glucose spike (or actually there is, but it's really small compared to meals with carbs). If you are eating carbs you can use fiber as a workaround to slow down glucose spike. But it will also worsen absorption of other nutrients as well. You don't need to do this if your are carnivore though.

@@erinbrantley3206 the is no 1 right answer here. Some fruits and vegetables could harm you especially if you have gut issues or some kind of metabolic issue. For example, you can think you are doing good thing to your body by eating nuts before carbs, but nuts have huge amount of oxalates. And this could be way worse than glucose spike. This is just one example that should get you idea why there is no just one solution to your health problems. It depends highly on your current conditions, genetics , etc. Yo should NOT blindly follow not only people in comments but also youtubers like these.

How do you explain all the folks who consume tons of sugar but are in their 80's or 90's. I've ate sugar since I was a wee kid in the 1950's; drunk fizzy pop, ate sweets, had puddings, cakes, beer, etc, every day of my life (well, the beer began when I was about 8 year old, Scottish tradition). I'm still in good shape. I have been a vegetarian since the 1970's, but still don't view sugar as problematic and have a very sweet tooth. Not on any Meds, not lost my marbles. Real life always contradicts the "latest science". It was the same with the "fat problem" of the 1960's onwards. Most didn't have heart attacks due to fat. P.S. All these so-called health and ageing gurus look terrible for their years, what does that tell you? Do the opposite!

I agree that all this they are talking about is nonsense. I'm almost 70 and grew up on soda, kool-aid, desserts, bacon, basically everything they're saying to stay away from. I have a check-up every year, and all my numbers and blood work are spot on. I do cook from scratch. Never eat processed food or fast food. I make bread every week ( ever hear the phase "bread and butter is the staff of life"? ) and eat dessert twice a day (just made a pan of peanut butter fudge). Everything in moderation. Like, don't sit down and eat a whole cake. Like I said... I'm almost 70, and have people tell me I look like I'm in my late 40s or early 50s. I'll take it! Both my parents lived to their mid, late 90s. These health gurus are extremist, and they look old and unhealthy. My opinion.

@@lucreziamorganti9115 Are you joking? My older brothers and sisters, were born during the war years of the early 40's (all still alive and well; thriving on sugar, butter, etc) everything was in short supply. Even when I was born food was grown using bad chemicals; arsenic, copper sulphate, ddt, etc. Industrial waste was just dumped here, there and everywhere, into rivers, on farm land! Sure food has been tampered with something awful, I wouldn't eat any premade meals, or junk with additives, long shelf life, etc. The point is, these so-called experts talk nonsense, and it changes every other year, no consistency. Look at old traditions like Ayurveda, they don't chop and change like the wind. They've worked it out much better than our lot, who are too arrogant and money driven to actually do real science.

I have 1/4 c. of organic sproutted gluten free, glyphosate free over-night oats in a small mason jar with chia seed, walnuts, coconut yogurt, almond milk and I top it off with organic berries, blue berries or dark sweet cherries !
