You shared a lot of good points. But I’ve got to say that if a manufacturer is going to market their rig as for “full-time living,” then they need to build and warranty that rig with full-time living in mind. No ifs, ands, or buts!

I bought our Rockwood Mini Lite RV in 2020 from Josh the RV Nerd. I know it’s not rated for full time living but we stayed on the road for 3 years straight. Had very minor issues till this day. It’s all about doing regular maintenance. Don’t wait till it breaks down. Even our 2016 Silverado has 278000 miles and still pulling our trailer. Regular maintenance will save you money

The Rockwood/Flagstaff products are higher quality than many other Forest River products and the competition. Unfortunately they have reduced the number of available options, interiors, and floor plans to cut costs.

We have owned two Born Free coaches and recently purchased our first 27 foot Platinum Coach House RV. Coach House is a small family owned manufacturer that is concerned about quality and customer satisfaction after the sale. Any new coach will have issues. We had issues with our Born Free’s and we had some minor issues with our Coach House RV. Although Born Free is no longer in business, they and Coach House were very concerned with resolving any issues we had. I agree that smaller manufacturers are generally more concerned about customer satisfaction after the sale. That being said, you will pay more for coaches from these manufacturers. I am willing to pay more for quality and customer service after the sale because I want to use our coach for travel, not send time in a repair center.

I know I have mentioned this before but if you want to see quality improve and improve quickly, the stockholders of these RV MFG corporations need to demand that the pay structure and bonuses are based off customer satisfaction along with warranty that are measured by an outside independent company. Money is the only incentive to get these CEO's and CFO's to pay attention to anything. Companies do not just go out of business overnight; they slowly bleed to death over a long period of time.

Sorry to hear this, we had a 2021 Seneca and never had a problem other than the kitchen sink came loose. We just traded ours in for a Brinkley fifth wheel and it definitely seems like a better quality unit overall than the Seneca. I hope you can get your Seneca back on the road soon.

@@EndlessRVing Tim Abeel is assisting us with the coach now. You’re video was quite helpful in making a determination as to the direction we chose to go. I’ve jokingly (sort of) said to him that I’d love to make a video as to the laundry-list of problems. If the buying populous saw how bad a roughly $400k unit was, I’m sure it would save folks from making our mistake.

We RV because we want to travel to any place in US/ Canada we like with our two dogs, not having to stay in a hotel, having our own beds everything with us „like at home“. It’s our home on wheels. We don’t like to go to the same place over and over again. We like to go to hiking places setup our motorhome and take our toad to go to the trail heads later go a local farmer buy fresh eggs, meats, vegetables and grill or cook our own meals. We also like to not more than 200-250 miles/day while enjoying the journey, not just the destination. Thanks for the video!

I have heard horror story on a $500k motorhome. The person buying it expected it to be well-built for the kind of money they just paid for it but no it was junk; just as much junk as the lower quality lower-priced ones that you seem to be talking about, so it doesn't seem like price even matters with RVs anymore. The quality on all if them just stinks. I will never buy a new RV.

As a former Alliance owner I agree that they back their warranty and if you full time they will approve mobile techs for warranty work. I also feel if they would spend maybe just another hour or so on QC at the factory they’d probably spend less on warranty claims. We downsized recently but if we were in the market for another towable they’d be our first choice.

Unfortunately as long as the industry stays unregulated and people are willing to buy junk. No substantial changes will happen. The more I research the more my plans go from possible 80% down to week trips in a pop-up truck camper that I essentially build the inside components.

I tell anyone looking for a RV to do research and narrow the list to a couple brands you like. Then go to irv2 and join the owners forum for them and read the post dealing with issues. Note the year, model, and problems posted. When I first joined a couple of these, I noticed one of the brands issues being posted were on older units and another brand that had issues with new or newer units. That helped me decide which brand to buy..

Yes, if you buy a new RV you will need to have items fixed. We've had two new RV's since late 2020. Both were Entegra's with excellent warranties. We are fortunate that the local RVOne/Bue Compass dealer has an excellent service dept. With that said, it is a PITA to have to schedule warranty service etc.

I have remote property with newly purchased camper and utility trailer on it. At 1st I couldn’t have been happier with the camper until it started to self destruct; mostly due to condensation collection (even using desiccants). After the 3rd year I had to replace the floor before anyone fell through. I wonder why I see other campers under shelters. The utility trailer is still as solid as new. Not sure how much more conversion I want to build into it. I could have it 30*C in middle of winter inside, single axel- very easy to move, out door heated shower, a lot to it and always great to have. I even built a motorcycle carrier to haul my 700 pound road bike off the back.

No one is saving money using Camper/RV's VS just going to a hotel unless you buy a cheap used camper and pulling it with a decent truck. You have to be a hands on person to maintain it. New campers and RV's are expensive and maintenance heavy. Most are not intended for daily living as a replacement for your home. From my experience most campers are made of the cheapest wood available. They have cheap chipboard floors that are protected from the road wash with a thin plastic liner underneath. I had a 2010 Cikira Classic Cruiser that had a major structural failure due to unprotected cheap wood floors and exterior walls. They went out of business soon after mine was built due to lawsuits over quality. The exterior walls were made of particle board with a layer of fiberglass sheet bonded to the outside and a decorative thin plastic sheeting on the inside. These panels are made in huge sheets and are CNC cut to the shape of the camper or RV sides. Then they are screwed to the floor that is supported by the frame. The roof assembly is then screwed to the top edged of the side panels. Everything gets sealed up with trim strips to hide the screws and a rubber roof liner is secured over the top. These thinks are cookie cutter, Then you have the high end campers and RV's those you pay serious money for and are worth the money but most people can't afford that.

Hi Izzy and MJ! I have 2 friends that live in rvs. One lives in a fifth wheel and the other in travel trailer. They are not on KZbin. They are both polder rvs. I don’t think they have that many issues. They love their rvs. But I think they need to build the Rvs to be sturdy enough to live in. They need to be have quality in these rvs. Built like house. For the price of a house. I wish my friends daughter and her boy friend got their Rv fixed but it’s sitting at the dealership. It’s a shame this dealership can’t fix the problem. I’m sorry this kind of thing goes like this. I wish I could something but I can’t. Thank you Izzy and MJ for this video. Sorry I rambled. Great topic to discuss. Thank you!

Thank you for being above & beyond what some other video posters do. My thoughts are buyer be aware, do your own research it’s your money. Read and follow the manufacturer instructions, a simple bug screen could void a furnace warranty. Overloading any thing can do damage to that item (even to many beef in a stock trailer going to auction). A pickup with a lift kit may put a different dynamic to the fifth wheel connection. And finally even a brick/stick residence can have quality build issues. I chose a new 2022 travel trailer to camp 3-4 days per outing knowing I will never recoup my investment BUT I do intend to enjoy every day of retirement camping possible. Thanks ERV I am still subscribed and intend to stay here.

You can save money RV'ing. Especially if you are an old fart like me with a senior inter-agency pass that gives you 50% off on national parks, COE, BLM and national forest campgrounds. I used the RV Life trip wizard and got a total of $800 including gas coming from Virginia for: 1. 3 nights at Davis Bayou National Park campground outside Biloxi MS. 2. 5 nights at Ft. Pickens National Park campground near Pensacola. 3. 3 nights at Gulf State Park by Gulf Shores AL 4. 2 nights at Ocracoke Island NC National Park campground Over night stops along the way are either Cracker Barrel or Cabela's/Bass Pro Shops. The Cabela's in Leeds AL is awesome. It is built on a hill and the RV parking is on the fourth level up away from any noise or activity. The Gulf State Park is pricey at $50 a night but the facilities are top notch.

We have a Class A. It's not our 1st RV and we knew the upkeep would be significant going in. If you have the time, knowledge, tools and desire to do it yourself it yourself it's quite manageable, but if you treat it like an appliance it's going to get ahead of you really quickly. There's a reason they call it the "RV lifestyle". For me it's more like a hobby or a passion, but it's going to take up some of your time and money even while you are not actively traveling. In my opinion, storage is a significant factor (and probably worth of it's own video). Sun, wind and rain really take thier toll, not to mention pests. We were able to build an RV garage to keep ours in before taking delivery. Obviously it's outside while we are using it, but when we get home it's cleaned top to bottom, inside and out. I keep a journal of things that need to be repaired or updated, even the really minor things.

I know this is going to sound all uppity and snobby, but I'm done buying RV's. Nothing is out there like what I want, and the stuff that is close is brutally expensive. I've committed to just building my own RV. I accept that I can do this only because I have the skills and tools to do it. But I'm just lost to where this industry is going with the obsession with massive huge absurdly expensive rigs while making the smaller inexpensive systems stupidly "cheap" in quality.
