I love cozy fantasy, but it is hard to do well because there still needs to be some conflict and I feel many authors can't let go of the need to make their stories epic in scope. I think I'm going to end up with four versions of Legends and Lattes when all is said and done. Still, we can agree to disagree. Great video!

Second that, I've just never felt a pull towards Caraval even though the books are gorgeous. I think what turns me off is how little people actually talk about the rest of the series that tells me there's basically no point. I did enjoy Once Upon a Broken Heart but I'm not gonna lie, it was all because of the timing. It's not a great book but i did enjoy how most of it is plot driven and it didn't linger on the romance story too much. But the rest of the series...? I'm worried. Again, no one really talks about the rest of the books so what's going on? I've been putting off the second book for a long time now

After reading those 800 brutal pages of A Little Life, I'd say it was worth the read. I am not sure if I would read it again, but I would recommend it. It is incredibly devastating and heartbreaking, but beautiful and wholesome at the same time.

With Holly Black, I'm only interested in continuing the Book Of Night Series and The Coldest Girl In Coldtown (Among other books that Black chooses to write within the paranormal genre). I'm completely okay with doing a reading vlog for Book Of Night since I need to reread it anyway.

I have so many books that I'm sure are objectively GREAT but just can't bring myself to read. It's not enough for a book to be good, it has to be about something that I'm specifically interested in or I'll be bored. But I think we find things when the time is right, so maybe one day I'll wake up and be like "All of a sudden I feel a strong need to read Ulysses by James Joyce!" and it'll change my life, who knows. That said, audiobooks have been making it a lot more accessible because they feel like less work, so it's been easier to throw on an audiobook and just listen even if I'm not 100% sold on the premise. (Lowkey I love searching "____ audiobook" on youtube so I don't have to pay for Audible or anything lol)

This!! I'm definitely a hug mood reader and I think certain books just hit at different times so it's always good to put a book down if you're not enjoying it but also be open to trying it at a later date

A popular books series I dont think I'll read is The Mortal Instruments. Not only does a series of more than 4 books terrify me, but what's with the 1000 page books towards the end?? No way😂😂 I DNFed the Cruel Prince after the second book. I just couldn't get into it even though the audiobook was mostly good to listen to but it left very little impression in me because the "Cruel Prince/Wicked King" in question is barely a character in both books. He's just some weird bully, an alcoholic and a snarky prisoner for two books. He plays a very little role in the actual plot besides being used as a minor antagonist and a prop. Also, the characters are way too young for me to take it seriously 😅 Lastly i finally have admit to myself that I won't be reading fairy-tale re-tellings that fall into the dark romance category 😅 (e.g. The Never After series, the Monsters and Muses, Hades x Persephone saga, Vicious Lost Boys, etc.) Not because of anything against dark romance books themselves but a lot of re-tellings tend to miss the point of their original material and only use the characters' namesake and then make them act completely out of character for no reason. You could have just written your own story instead of forcing it to tie into an existing fairy-tale 😩

You know I totally forgot to add Cassandra Clair to my list because I'm definitely in the same boat! I think I read most of the mortal instruments when it came out when I was in high school, but honestly they were just bad & I'm not willing to diving back into the universe 😅

A popular book that I actually really dislike is Shatter Me because OML it was just...no. I refuse to believe Aaron Warner is all that because I can name 5 better fictional men than him 😭
