Yeah, I remember this game. It was an attempt to capitalize of the success of Warcraft 3. It was made very shortly after W3 came out and they straight up copied a lot of mechanics and concepts from it. Although they did inject enough individuality into it and I would argue it's not an actual rip-off, more like heavily inspired game. However, it never really gained any popularity, probably because Warcraft 3 was just so much better in comparison. Although I bet their strategy worked, since I only bought it precisely because it looked like Warcraft 3 and I liked that game a lot at the time.

I actually remember this game. Played it many years ago and greatly enjoyed playing the first campaign and the skirmish mode. Also, a year ago Jayborino as usual held his annual map competition and there were few maps for Armies of Exigo. Sadly, this year Jay dropped AE maps for his map contest.

This game was great, even though some of Warcraft fans will mock it as their clone(armies of exigo design more like LOTR), but for me it has its own uniqueness just like Spellforce

@@indiemasters The thing is, it's not even on GOG I believe... such a shame. The game is really great. On par with WC3 / SC imho, some thing are better, some are worse. I remember it had a campaign mission where you fought alongside an AI ally that actually did stuff and helped a ton. I love stuff like that.

This is a top 10 game for me. I loved the map editor, the dual layer maps allowed for such awesome opportunities. Everyone always compares this to Warcraft 3 but its so much better of a game than Warcraft 3 ever was.

If im correct, earth 2150 was released a bit earlier than exigo and had very polished underground/surface management aswell. Digging tunnels to move under a sea or mountain was insane.

I simply love this game. Far more than I loved Warcraft 3. It enchanted me with his misterious atmosphere and lore. I would give anything to find a way to make it run on Windows 10. Please, if anyone know how, teach me!

There are some communities out there that have made certain mods for it to be able to run in Windows 10 with higher resolution, unfortunately, I can't tell you how but a simple google search will surely help you find what you are looking for!

This game has been in back of my head for more than a decade. I kept trying to remember what was that game that looks like Warcraft 3, but you play under the ground and it has spiders. At one point I just kind of gave up and assumed I was thinking of Battle for Middle Earth.

I remember seeing this game in a videogame magazine before it came out and was fascinated by the graphics and the ability to move units undeground. Twenty years later I finally decided to give this a go and I have to say this game is really good. I never played Warcraft or Starcraft which apparently Armies of Exigo took lot of things from so I can't compare, but on it's own it's really fun. I finished human and fallen campaigns which are both fun to follow and both factions have interesting mechanics, especially the fallen ones I had lot of fun with. I'm going through the Beasts campaign now and although I'm not too far in just yet, I find it the least interesting and I'm also not a big fan of the faction mechanics, healing etc, but I'm not much into playing as the orcs in games anyway... Overall however, this game is a blast.

I’m glad to see that people still till to this day enjoy classic games like this! It just serves to prove how awesome this game is as it serves as a testament to time! For me, the Fallen were my favorite faction! I don’t know if it was me going through my edgelord phase lol but i really liked the dark eldritch and lovecraftian vibe they gave off!

Its a good game, but it isn't availble digitally. Needs to be added to steam. My biggest gripe was the free battle mode. Where you pick races, maps and teams. It was annoying i couldn't watch an AI vs AI game. It didn't let me add an AI to my team either ... It is a shame this isnt conveniently available. It is worth playing.

@@indiemasters the campaign is basically Gandalf being forced to work with Orks to stop Cthulu from awakening his army to consume Middle Earth, Armies of Exigo is really good remake material TBH, there is a lot of material in the lore not really explored and there are a few thing that a new team can work on.

I also run windows 11 I remember downloading a hotfix for that and also changing the some files to make it run not in windows 11 but a previous version If you go into the properties of the file it should give you the option to run it in a previous version of windows or you might have to run an app that allows you to do that

Yes, I used Windows 10. You might have to patch it with an update first before modding or playing the game as it may not work. I suggest checking out myabandonware games as the comments there are very useful to help get the game running.

I am writing a story for this game expanding on the campaign story,and creating the history for each race. I do it for myself and in my free time. It is fun to let your imagination fly while creating a world that your always in love with,even if it is an old game that ment much in your childhood.

@@indiemasters thanks man. I have done some chunks of it,i have in mind to make 6 stories. First one: is about a general called Haldemere(was in game too,as name not as a playable character) who is a general of the third arnorian army,the last army to stand against the ork invasion from the howling plains,and the story will be about why and how events happend etc. Second story about a dwarven Smith and his tale when his kingdom got in conflict with the dark elves while touching on their societies and such. Third is about the beastmen. Fourth about 2 kingdoms who were destroyed in the old cycle(war of ruannon with the fallen). Fifth is a lite love story between a toenian guy and a girl from antaras. 6th is about the elves and their internal struggle(how the dark elves came to be) The last is about the last war(the campaign story and such) As you can see,i am nerdy about it. I have the highlites in my head,but wrote a chunk of the fifth story and the dwarven one,while a bit about general Haldmere. So not ready yet. Though,in next year will have much time and will start to write extensively.

I love reading works of magical fiction, as I was a huge fan of the LOD books, harry potter, Deltora Quest, etc and am always looking for more reading material to digest!
