That's awesome. The closest feature I can think of from another RTS game would be Command & Conquer Generals. In that game, neutral dwellings such as apartment buildings and certain bunkers could be loaded with infantry. The American faction had helicopters which could fly above the bunker and drop in troops to clear it and take it over.

It's really funny how some of the more purist-minded fans get on the Jackson films for giving some soldiers plate armor and crossbows. And here's this game licensed by the estate with Warcraft linebacker shoulderpads.
@raskolnikov6443 Жыл бұрын
@@misterbadguy7325why is that funny? The estate has made many bad decisions and currently it’s basically run by enemies of JRR Tolkien. The movies have huge lore issues and it’s fair to point that out. Overall I like them, but issues like the weird feminist Eowyn scene with the Nazgûl must have Tolkien spinning in his grave lol. „No man can kill me“ means no human can kill him (man as in mankind) and than she takes off her helmet and says something so unbelievably stupid and out of universe/ character, just to score feminist brownie points (Jackson probably had the Oscar and Hollywood crowd in mind). Such a botched scene. Aragorn is so different as well, totally different personality and motivations. Movie Boromir and Denethor are a travesty. The latter is basically just a nutjob. I’m glad Tolkien never saw these movies lol. The Music is phenomenal though and I can overlook all those issues (there are many more) to an extent. Still better than contemporary Hollywood movies.
@Sareth94 Жыл бұрын
@@raskolnikov6443 "weird femenist Éowyn"... Maybe you should re-read the Battle of the Pelennor Fields: "Be gone, foul dwimmerlaik, lord of carrion! Leave the dead in peace!" A cold voice answered: "Come not between the Nazgûl and his prey! Or he will not slay thee in thy turn. He will bear thee away to the houses of lamentation, beyond all darkness, where thy flesh shall be devoured, and thy shriveled mind be left naked to the Lidless Eye." A sword rang as it was drawn. "Do what you will, but I will hinder it, if I may." "Hinder me? Thou fool. No living man may hinder me!" Then Merry heard of all sounds in that hour the strangest. It seemed that Dernhelm laughed.... "But no living man am I! You look upon a woman. Éowyn I am, Eomund's daughter. You stand between me and my lord and kin. Be gone, if you be not deathless! For living or dark undead, I will smite you, if you touch him." Book Éowyn pulls the woman card *before* she gets the shit kicked out of her & maybe she doesn't *explicitly* take her helmet off, it just "disappears" in between Merrys observations - so it's possible to say it's implied she took it off, because why else would it fly away.. The movie is a "fair" representation of the proceding, even though it took out a lot of the dialogue to make room for some admittedly unfitting comedic flail-flailing. Book Éowyn also only needed one strike to kill the Witchkings beast - how's that for "feminism"... It also appears to be a close literary reference to Macbeth, with very much the same kind of 'fine print' subversion of a prophecy. The movies have many, often weird, alterations from the book, true - but maybe drop the fucking "fEmIsiM" - you sound like a clown.
@ryanpringle8313 Жыл бұрын
@@raskolnikov6443 Agree about the estate, but I don't think Tolkien would be spinning in his grave because of Eowyn's line during the scene with the witch king. She says this in the book "But no living man am I! You look upon a woman. Eowyn I am, Eomund’s daughter. You stand between me and my lord and kin. Begone, if you be not deathless! For living or dark undead, I will smite you, if you touch him.” Honestly it's even more direct in the book, because Eowyn explicitly points out that she's a woman. If Jackson was really looking to score points with Hollywood feminists, he should have left the whole excerpt intact, instead of shortening it to just "I am no man".

The tabletop War of Ring is really, really good. I was literally turns away from absolute victory when my brother had Gandalf abandon the ring-bearer, gather a few motley northern soldiers, conquer Moria, and sack Dol Guldur, all in one round! Tearing victory from my cold evil hands. Now, no longer does Sauron in his lust for conquest leave his northern fortresses quite so poorly guarded anymore. Erhm, the RTS War of the Ring? from ages ago but just to say it. Christopher didn't hate the films because they made his father's work into an action movie. its a common misconception. he disliked the idea of making them into film BECAUSE it would make them into action movies. he felt there was so much content, detail, storythreads and such through the books you simply couldn't fit into a movie and it would take away so much of that he saw as magical in the writing and by its nature as a film it would have an overabundance of action. he didn't hate the films he just didn't like the loss of depth from the books.

Even Arcanum, a very... lore heavy game, had an 180 page manual to actually put all the lore in because they knew it was too much for the medium of games.

@@toolatetothestory Certainly, they are just different mediums, the films were still made with the Estate and Christopher's acceptance and even with minor alterations to story threads they stayed on the path of the novels and made the LOTR story in Film medium 1 of the best out there. perhaps its more what happened to the Hobbit that Christopher feared, lots of major alterations and strange choices made that somewhat lost the way from the book itself. along with the LOTR series they want to do where the moment Christopher passed they removed the lore keepers from the script team and began major alterations. hopefully the estate can stop too much butchery but cant know until its made

Lol I remember The Third Age, the ending was soo confusing cause you went instantly from Fighting the Witch King outside Minas Tirith to fighting the Eye of Sauron on top of the tower.. and I mean instantly after in that you essentially warped there I guess?.. soo jarring.

2:40 He was the best trumpet player in the whole of China. He is the top-ranked player and speakers all orphans look for him. When I was a young boy, I'll play the trumpet every day, because I want to be like him. I played for years, and finally one day I approached his skill level. I love this song, and play it more than 5,000 times. My family has been denied, because I love this song for me. "You hurt my ears, stop," they say, but I never did. I'll keep playing trumpet introduction, until my lips and ears bleed. I became fluent in Chinese, so I can sing this song. I put this song down to my kids and my man anthem. This is my power of song. I did the Rocky series, replace "flies now," the song editing. I have to overdubbed every war movie theater this song. My grandfather's funeral played this song. I explode this song, because I drive through the bad parts of the town, it makes even the most difficult criminals to give up their weapons, hugging each other gestures of peace. I had a special trumpet player of this song composed. It hewn ear bones melt enemy, I killed my trumpet prelude grating. Brass folded in 1000 times.It withstood blowing my breath for a few weeks, they have the power over 10,000 solar power. I've been razed to the ground by the instrument nation and this song's strength and power. Little Mimi is musical beauty has earned its largest display Earth's overall human history. In the hands of the original artists show is unparalleled. I created a new form of music research center to solve this masterpiece. There is a religion, which I lead, is committed to this song and its creator worship.

0:30 Look, I understand why Tolkien's son might not have liked the Peter Jackson movies (most likely due to so much content being changed, left out, or both) but then I must pose the question: if he (Tolkien's son) had to do a thrilogy of moves based on Lord of the Rings, how would he do it? If he stays 100% faithful to his father's novels, then each of the movies would be five hours long (if not more) and at that point he might as well just make it into a television series instead. But then again, what if he decides to make some changes, what does he change? Which charecters and events does he keep and leave out? Its impossible to make a 100% faithful adaption of a novel, unless you just straight-up make it a TV series. Then you can have as many characters and events as you want because you're not constrained by a time limit (You are, but not in the sense that once the episode is over, that story is over. The story continues into the next episode)
@F1ghteR41 Жыл бұрын
A point has been made a while ago that TV series are way better suited for transferring large novels into an audio-visual medium than feature films. The problem here is that one would be hard pressed to find a talented screenwriter to undertake such an endeavour, especially without significant interference from the likes of Amazon or Netflix producers. So in the end the answer to the question would be meaningless, unless one has a firm understanding which producers are you working with and what are their views.

I played A LOT of Battle Realms and I can recognize the textures, animations and even the maps in this game. It's so nostalgic to see a game so similar to Battle Realms. You should really do a review on that game. That is by far my favourite RTS game, simply because of the gameplay and the game mechanics.

Micro = micro-manage. As in play in a way that extracts the maximum value out of them. Warg Riders are a fast wolf-riding unit so by micromanaging them to take little damage, you can get more points that would've helped that situation
