You would have heard about the Hero Tai saga, whereby he claims that Singapore food dishes were “stolen” from Malaysia. But there’s more to it.

There are a million things to give a fck about and what he says isn't one of those things at all. So many Malaysians want credit where it is due but putting down a country to bring yours up isn't the way.
@jamesl25906 ай бұрын
No wonder their country is in a mess right? Instead of focusing on priorities like cost of living, their energy is wasted on arguments like origins of food. lol..perhaps its better this way since it only benefits Singapore.

@@jamesl2590 They are probably sour that Singapore gets recognized more often than Malaysia by UNESCO but this could be due to their leaders not doing enough to promote Malaysian culture and insufficient enough exposure. There's so much more to Malaysia that this fellow could have focused on and that's what the smarter Malaysians are doing. Rather than comparing Singapore, expose the Malaysian systems that is flawed from the examples that you have given. We can compliment one another instead of putting each other down. There's so much more that Singapore has contributed to Malaysia and vice versa.

Many people said... If Singapore lends Malaysia 1-2 Ministers from PAP, within 10 years Malaysia will be a very prosperous nation

@@daggyag9613 And his statement that SG businesses refusing to serve Malaysian is probably lies and to say until it is so prevalent is really unfair to us. I highly doubt that happens. I can't believe any F&B will say no to money, not unless he is participating in some vices. And he said that SG look down on Msian. Comeon. Its more like some rich folks look down poor, SG or Msian regardless. Just that most Msian that come to SG are for work and hence more likely poor than rich.

@@jamesl2590 I could say the same when I go to JB, Malaysia. Not being able to speak a word of Malay, the waiter remarks "ayah ini orang tak buleh cakap malayu lah" I said I don't know, I didn't say I don't understand 😆😆😆 and his colleague comes over to assist me giving me the impression that they are unwilling to serve. But it is just a one off experience and I didn't let it bother me. Besides, my friends and I laughed it off and I got chided when one of my friends responded with "See? Your mother never teach you ah?" 😂😂😂 Grow a thicker skin perhaps and don't let small things put you down. Generally speaking, discrimination happens in every other country, in Paris, in the UK, in the US, in Japan, in South Korea and the list goes on and yes in some places it is prevalent. But to say it is prevalent in Singapore, that's just exaggerating and being overly dramatic. Competition is stiff in SG and to turn away anyone could result in bad publicity especially with the availability of social media now. The fact of the matter is we have people from all over the world and sooner or later we are going to mix and come up with different variations and recipes. The recipe of the food may be originally from Malaysia but since then it has many variations. Some like the 'improved' version of it while some like the original. Which one do you like? Taste is subjective isn't it? And remember, the younger generations will take over us and how their moms and dads exposed them to different varieties of food will also determine what kind of food they like and what they remember each for ... all these will affect their taste buds 😉

do not forget b4 Msia only independent from 1959. All records on SG good delicious food can be found in england old records (b4 1950s) but none mentioned Msia. Likely Msia steal from SG is higher as from 1819 to now, few thousand milliion of Msia (马劳) come SG. So there are millions of chances Msia came here to steal (or rather SG teach them) the receipe

There were millions of Msian came SG to work as cook, hawkers helpers etc. base on data, far higher chances ( Millions time ) Msian stole SG recipe than vice versa. Do not forget b4 90s ,Msia mainly kampong till SG start relocate factories and attracted more MNCs to there and eatery there then start mushrooming. b4 90s, do u think Msia has much eateries to offer to Kampong folks who usually eat at home? Where does the eatery cook learn the recipe from ( Likely uncles/aunties return from SG )

The Taiwan media should not host this program, creating hostility amongst the Malaysians and Singaporeans. Must have certain guidelines and not to create hatred or misunderstanding between two close neighbours of Malaysia and Singapore. The Taiwan media is adopting the lousy American style of unacceptable fun show, no regards to Eastern culture of respect for each other harmonious living.

although sg have many man made attractions but important is it attracted far many times of tourists then msia. Msia hv oil, many natural resources but many time poorer. Msia Country big n larger population but need to come across (jam the causeway) to toil for living. Empty vessels (like hero) made the most noises like 老马. Talk loud but no proof.

Bat ku teh is originated from Fujian, China. So MY is stealing PRC food and trying to proclaim it as one of their national dish. Everytime MY want to proclaim dishes as their own when some of the dishes Otah, Satay, mee rebus are originated from Indonesia.

He bad mouth Singapore. Hero Tai if you like Malaysia so much why must you go to Taiwan to seek job for survival. Why don't you stay put in Malaysia and contribute to Malaysia boleh. Malaysians should be grateful to Singapore. Many Malaysians come to Singapore for work, good salary and good exchange rate from SG dollars to ringgits. Many Malaysians also make a fortune in Singapore setting up business here and got permanent residency here easily. Singapore is a cosmopolitan country, welcome foreign talents, easy of doing business here.. No race discrimination unlike some countries giving job and business opportunities to their majority race.

Regarding the stealing of food i find it ridiculous. The food was created in then "Malaysia" with Singapore part of it. So anything created during that period belongs to Singapore and Malaysia. Wah lau, when Singapore create a food, will you especially specify its jurong west food so in future when jurong east spilt with Singapore u can especially claim it's Singapore food because it's made in jw?

Sg good food were recorded by england back in 30s when msia also British Colony. There were no British records of msia. As sg is a thriving port from 1819 , many thousand millions msia toil here n retired returning hometown as hawkers there after learning the good food recipe here lah
