Model y never had chrome at all even at the launch. The black trim started with the model y and was transferred to the model 3.

got a LR Model Y (Dec 2020 build) and its built great. Suspension is better than earlier builds. Doors shut even with a good sound. The new ones are the ones to get.

Model Y Performance i test drove felt like a boat when going around the corner, but very fast in a straight line and low speed acceleration. My weekend car is 987 Boxster S 3.4 with proper hydraulic steering and only weighs 1250kg so these Tesla don't feel very agile in tight corners but too fast when put foot down.

If you want a sportier ride and slightly better performance, I'd recommend the model 3. However, if you care more about practicality and want a more spacious and practical car that still performs very similar to the model 3, I'd recommend the Y.

I've been trying to get my wife on board with a Model Y when she's ready to trade in her old car. I think she's torn because she doesn't like 'bigger' cars...which is how she described it when she saw one in person. But she also sat in the Model Y and definitely preferred the higher, more upright seating position over the seating in my 3. If we're going to be a two-Tesla household it also just makes sense to have a larger one on hand for hauling large stuff or for loading up the back for roadtrips, rather than two of the same size.

I have the Model 3 Performance and my wife wants a Model Y. I am thinking about giving her the Model 3 and picking up a dual motor Cybertruck. She does not like the look of the truck though.

The back trunk beep…. The Model Y sounds like it uses the cars speakers… the Model 3 has a dedicated little speaker back there since the inside is “sealed” and the audio cant flow through like the Y.

Model 3 (LR) is still my favorite. It looks a lot better (and as with all SUV-ish cars the Model Y just blocks vision for everyone else). If you have a family by all means go for the Model Y but if not the Model 3 should offer ample space for all your needs and gets you better efficiency. As for performance versions: Unless you go to the racetrack that's just wasted money. The regular (AWD/LR) versions have a nicer ride (with the smaller tires) and are plenty fast with better range. Range is king in EVs.

Agree with all you say except for the Performance vs LR. LR is in every way for sure the sensible version to get, but the Performance is worth it for some people, like myself 😀 I just love the "kick" I get when stepping on it from lower speeds, the LR doesn't give you that. Next time I might get an LR, though.
