I love videos like this that give an explanation and how to recognize/go about it and most of all an EXAMPLE to see it in action! I’d really appreciate it if you did one like this on listening to your partner

I know I'm late to the party here, but I wanted to note that the text comments you added to the clip from The Crown actually detracted from my trying to absorb your points about subtext. The notes about topics like shooting angles may be interesting, but they're not related to the acting choices.

Nicely presented. I have been having a difficult time with subtext. Great illustration of it.

For those who haven't seen the Crowd, describing the context of this scene, who the players are, what their wants and goals are would help understand the context and play of the acting in the shot. I watched the Crown and can't remember the players and backstory as clearly as possible to remember what the subtext is telling us. Awesome breakdown though, carry on !!

I really enjoyed this approach. I haven’t watched The Crown but this has intrigued me. I thought all 3 actors in this scene delivered the subtext really well. There was quite a bit of internal squirming from the actor playing Holden, Olivia Colman couldn’t have looked more aloof and the sheer hatred from Prince Phillip’s face was tangible. I liked the subtitles you layered on too.

Dan Tracy I really just enjoy things I don’t really think of in acting! Small tips actors use (like subtext) or even more examples can help a lot!! also i’m personally struggling with the idea of how to say lines effectively & genuinely if you have tips about something like that, for example. I hope your channel gets more hype because it deserves it!!

Olivia murders it! I've watched all of the seasons at least twice each. Claire Foy also in season one is incredible.

@@dantracyoriginals More examples of subtext and I'm the guy that asked for actor choices observation like the one you did for Matt Damon. Also, think about doing what is the difference between good and great acting? And doing a clip on what is intention?

Dan Nice job here. Well Done. Actors need information like this, to help them with insight. Uta Hagen always stated that "DETAILS are in the Dialogue" Your demonstration was spot on. I created and run my own playhouse (www.leifsimprovplayhouse.com ) and I stress this with my students constantly. I will share this and your channel with them.
