@LowBrowFishing do you have any tips for getting better hook ups with treble hooks. I lost 2 with really sharp hooks and not sure how to handle it 😕
@LowBrowFishing3 ай бұрын
@@itllkeal A lot of times it comes down to not waiting for the fish to have the bait good before setting the hook. Patience on the hook set is key!

My GF and I had a tremendous day with largemouth, good-sized smallmouth, big crappie, and big bull gill on a 2in joker yesterday. I missed 2 on a popper so I went back to the jig

Caught a 6.5 off a deep diving crankbait away from the bank and a 7 off a chatterbait close to the bank today. They are definitely transitioning to the shallower waters but you can still catch some in deep water.
@LowBrowFishing3 ай бұрын
The transition happens very gradually. There are still some nice fish out deep!

@@LowBrowFishing yeah. Only thing is. I caught 2 big bass (over 6 pounds) out of that deep water (between 15 and 20 feet) and neither were hooked bad (no gill hook) and neither one made it. I tried for 30 minutes with one trying to get her to get moving to no avail and the other I thought was going to make it but found her floating about an hour later. Only thing I can figure is pulling them out of that thermocline like that along with the fight (even though it wasn’t a necessary long fight to get them in) was just too much for them. It really took away from the joy of catching them (though I didn’t let them go to waste. I brought them home and cleaned them and gave them to someone I work with because I’m just not a fan of eating bass).

I don't know if I have the nerve to throw a squarebill from the bank. But I do like the Waco and a wacky!

A small sqaurebill can be a great bait from the bank! Give it a try!

Don't do it! You'll lose it first cast. Lol

I have a squarebill tied on nearly all year long. I burn it as fast as I can and then stop it dead for a couple seconds. Best way to work a crankbait that I've ever tried.

I agree on that retrieve! It works great! As Tactical Bassin would say "Burn,burn,burn, pause!" 😂

I've noticed more fish near the bank the last week. Had a couple cool nights and I think the water temp has dropped some

Love the rod explanation for the cranks. That softer tip and power makes a big difference in hook ups. I will have to try the lipless - I haven’t thrown one a lot in September. You’ve motivated me to give it some work!

I've always really liked throwing a lipless in the fall. I remember last year about this time, we were just getting to the lake and I caught 3 bass on back-to-back-to-back casts with a lipless before my wife even got a line wet. She was a little grumpy with me and told me to save her some fish, lol!

The bass started chasing bait in my river this last week up in Ohio. Today I got 3 on a Strike king 1.5 Square bill in Gizzard Shad, 3 on a drop shot using a Yum Warning shot in Ghost minnow (My 1st time ever catching on a drop shot!) and 2 on the Yum Christie Craw in green pumpkin.

@@LowBrowFishing I learned a tip watching a video last night. Instead of shaking the heck out of your drop shot try dragging it slowly like a t-rig. It looks way more natural that way. I tried it and it worked! All the fishing channels on KZbin have taught me so much. Im usually watching for a an hour or 2 a night trying to soak up all the knowledge I can! 😂
