Very nice lesson, John. I've played for 60 years and never fail to get a lot out of your lessons. Much appreciated.

These lick lessons are certainly improving my playing. It's new ideas, new technique, new ways of thinking and all the practicing I have to do to try and keep up means I'm playing more guitar every day. Please keep these coming.

absolutely awesome. you know this opened my eyes. I always work my intervals in relation to my root. now I'm going to work my intervals from the interval I'm on in the scale thank you.

Hi John. Just wanted to say that I’m really enjoying your channel. Lovely playing and some great info all round. The legato lessons in particular have been really inspiring and made me revisit that side of my own playing. Look forward to watching and learning more. Cheers Rob

p.s. Your intros are not only really lovely music excellently play but they also show how the content of these lessons feeds into and informs your playing. Really interesting to be watching your journey over the past couple of years and see how it all falls into place. (a good example is those EJ koto harmonics popping up from time to time and everytime, just that little bit more refined.

OMG that tone is .....staggering? Other worldly? Monstrous? All of the above. Playing is pretty good too. 😉 I've found that if you have an idea and you touch on it every day for a month, you'll remember it forever.

Your tone and approach is so great! 🎉

Sound great John !!! Now, I think a lot of folks would really like to know what tone you have here, your guitar “chain” from your guitar all the way to what gets recorded. And also your technique on how to keep noise to a minimum when playing this high gain tone.

Very interesting. I was playing this on my Strat (using your Eric2 Lead preset) and I kept hearing some sour overtone when playing the A to Bb on the 2nd string. I discovered it was coming from the 4th string! I need to mute that better with the right palm. This also remind me of how Eric Johnson will often jump intervals when moving up a scale or pentatonic run. Maybe there's a video in that?

OMG Muting is my ENEMY! I am conscious about it nowadays where I was not so much when I gigged as a lead singer and rhythm guitarist.. Now that I have been concentrating on melodic playing with a mind to recording, I am hearing all the little micro muscle memory things that I never properly trained my hands to do. I always seem to over mute or under mute the stuff that my picking hand is responsible for.. Found that using the tips of my fretting fingers against the next lower string from where I am fretting a note is helpful in that regard, but is not always possible.. Its an albatross I am trying to shake :)

@@christopherjbutler I took up playing lead guitar again after retirement and found the same challenge! I'm getting better at it, but takes some time to break bad habits. Need to keep at it to help my grandson who is one of my students!

Great super saggy tone. Pretty much commpessed. Like you have a booster at 100 before the chain and the power amp on ten.

John I purchased the bundles but I cannot find the "Eric Lead 35" preset, only ERIC3LEAD. Seems it's a new make for the 3.5 fw?
