I really want this tool, but my ratcheting PVC Cutter I have has been working fine to this day. Cuts 2/0 and 4/0 clean. Untill I need a heavier duty tool like this one your talking about is when I'll have to finally get one. Thanks for sharing.

basically if you're an electrician, you need these

Your very right in using large cable especially with lower voltages of d.c... As an experienced electrician I have a small bit of advice that might or might not add to your efficiency. Your using super-strand copper. The most flexible smallest strand in the trade. Works great with the exception of due to the small strands its the most prone to fast oxidations/corrosion and in a salt water environment (I'm from n.j.) doesn't hold up well in a surprisingly short period of time, the salt moisture eats it fast. If possible for permanent applications I would use THHN it is flexible but much less so than super-strand and is also meant for wet and hot environments with a copper arrangement called compact conductor. And it's cheaper for the same gage. On both wires highly recommend using a de-ox or The oxidizer to saturate the exposed copper. Comes in a grey and clear non drying wet silicone constancy. Wouldn't recommend the tradition grey it's a mess and stains. You might of known all of this but for anyone that doesn't.

I have always used a carpenters bolster and hammer to cut welding cable. Lay the cable over a block of metal place the bolster on the place to cut and one good whack with the hammer and the deed is done no fraying just nice clean cut.

A $400 plus tool. My favorite when doing commercial service work. Welding ground wire? Wow that's awesome idea depending on pricing. It's is very flexible and it would stop interference better than standard battery relocation wire kits. Other than audio wire I will definitely check that out.

The huge benefit of welding cable is the ampacity rating. All those fine copper strands allow for a higher load or ampacity. We use it for our generator leads 400 amps per cable. Just some food for thought

Been broke as we speak. Buying tools left and right and then I realize, I will use it and when I do, it will pay for itself. I'm getting ready to remove an engine and I was looking into clamp removal tools for hard to reach places and I'm somehow here on a video where a cutter is being used for large thick wires; I don't think I will be cutting battery post wires anytime soon so...

Awesome 《☆》Welding lead cable sounds like a good choice. It's a bit heavy but if You clamp it to the chassis it will add some ridgidity & handle as many amps as You can generate or draw ☻

I have a friend who is a union lineman, IBEW Local 77. One of his favorite stories is about a newbie hire who was fooling around with one of those ratcheting cable cutters. The idiot put his finger in one, on a dare, tightened it up, and then couldn't release it and had to go to the local hospital emergency room to get it removed. Otherwise he was going to lose the finger! LOL!! Frivolity and laughter for years afterwards!! What a stupid bumblefuck!

Don't know if your watching these comments, or if anybody is, but, is there anything like this that can cut barbed wire? For animal rescue. Most of the time there's just not room to get the long handled wired cutters in there, it would be quite the help if there was a ratcheting cutter that could handle it, in that kind of small space.
