your analogy was ON POINT. That is literally exactly how I felt. Like my favorite piece of media was already on the chopping block (rip FMAB) and I was only 200 chapters into ORV. I genuinely had no clue how the f*ck they were gonna top that 180s-190s stretch of absolute madness, but low and behold, my expectations kept getting blown out of the waters after every new arc. And man....that epilogue is probably the best thing I've ever read. Like legit. I was physically shaking at the insanity that was unfolding and I still think about it even to this day

One of the best series I've read. I'm not even joking. You can't predict how this story would go. The meta feeling of building an entire story, getting to conclusion, and arriving at the epilogue. Oh god, the epilogue is RUTHLESS, I still thought of it 'till this day even until the ending. I've heard that there's side stories, but I'll read it later since I'm reading LoTM lol. Good video, man. I share your feelings and views of the series as well. What a ride of a story. 1864 out of 10, can't recommend of this story enough.

This is a great video! I'm so glad that you mentioned impossible communication. It's one of the themes of ORV that i think really transcends the work and I don't see people talking about it that much. //spoilers// The idea of never actually being able to truly communicate, but writing on the wall anyway even if you don't know if the person on the other side can hear you T-T chills. CHILLS! It's so important especially because of the kind of person Dokja is (and how many people can relate to him). Just the act of reaching out of being there can make the difference for people who, like Dokja, don't know how to ask for help. I could talk all day about it.
@jcraftblizzard952310 ай бұрын
Brooooo completely my point! If you’ve ever had a misunderstanding with someone you will completely understand why that phrase is so true! No matter how hard we try we will never completely understand each other even if we use the same words, think the same thoughts, or do the same things, understanding each other completely will only happen if we could become each other but we can’t because then there won’t be other people but just one person. Idk if I expressed that properly but I’m just saying I completely get you bro bro, SingShong ate with that one especially in Jang Hayoung’s character! Thank you bro bro!
@Lazy.Sunday99910 ай бұрын
@jcraftblizzard9523 Exactly! It can seem so hopeless. Dokja essentially gives up trying to communicate past his wall because of that, but because of his companions, of jang hayoung and everyone else who don't give up on him he can learn to share more of himself 😭 dokjaaa let them love youuu! They care 😭 and to anyone else reading, if you're struggling, reach out! It's important to talk even if you can't do it well ❤️

Your spitting Mahwaxia, your spitting and leaving no crumbs bro bro, still try to communicate even when it’s impossible for complete understanding because even if we can’t reach 100 percentage we could at least reach 49% and the other side 51% to make up for our lack of understanding for each other, we have to still try, we have to still write on the wall, climb the wall, break the wall, even if it’s impossible, because someone is still on the other side waiting to be heard and seen there just behind the wall.

@@jcraftblizzard9523 Oh! Oh! He got interested in Gintama! Ok, ok, calm down. Dont scare him away. Okay so, before starting the great GOATAMA you should know a few things before that. First, it starts slow (until ep 51) after that mark, the author finds his pacing. 2nd. The series HAS a overarching story BUT you dont need to watch everything from ep1 to understand everything or be afraid of missing story BECAUSE Gintama is actually a collection of Mini stories, that can be watched separately from each other (mostly) You will get to know all the characters bit by bit because everyone gets their time to shine in the mini stories, so dont be afraid of now knowing anyone. The most important are the 3 main characters, the Blue/White Haired Guy, the Glasses Short Hair in Kimono and the Short Red Hair China Girl, who all work together "odd jobs" to pay their dailies. They are living in japan in the ear of samurais but aliens conquered their county and they have access to all kind of different technologies Instead of throwing you into the cold water I would love to help you find a mini arc that you could like. There are tons of different themes like: Snow Boarding, Star Wars, Dragon Ball, Quit Smoking, Final Destination (Movie), Having Dog Pet, Having Cat Pet, Buying a Playstation/Wii, She Shogun wants a Haircut, Draw your own Manga, Prison Break etc.: You could name a few topics you are interested in and I will look for you if Gintama has it! The peak metaphor is literally what I've been saying the whole time. IT'S PEAK AFTER PEAK AFTER PEAK AFTER PEAK and you're like WHEN DOES IT STOP? THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE! THERE CAN'T BE MORE PEAK! IT'S IMPOSSIBLE IT'S OVER 9000! and yet there's another peak and you're crying once more because the view keeps getting more and more beautiful and there's just another peak and you start fearing that there's an end to this endless trail of peak... and then you reach the end... and it's like... even after the end, there's still another peak without there being one... How? It doesn't make any sense.... It's a spiritual peak... No way... I can't believe it... How? And then there's my friends who still think solo leveling is better and I'm like... "okay bro"

Remember LOTM is 1,400 chapters and COI I think is only at around 600, if Cuttlefish is having the same pacing as the pervious book then we aren’t even halfway there yet of seeing the entire story. Is it just me or does Lee gilyeong feel like a wasted character, he doesn’t do anything after the first few arch’s and is just kinda there, I would be cool if he kept the guide from the catastrophe arch and had it evolve into a constellation like the book implies it could have, then Lee gilyeong wouldn’t be useless after like, peace land
@jcraftblizzard95239 ай бұрын
Have you read until the end of ORV or are you a webtoon reader? If your a webtoon reader then tbh I completely understand I have a few minor gripes about how some characters kinda lose their purpose in those early episodes but Lee Gilyoung will be used and his character will be developed just a little later. Do you think that way because of how he wasn’t really any help in controlling the Cimera Dragon with Shin Yoosung? If you’ve read until the end then I’ll give my two cents in full detail.😭😭😭
@JJ-mn3nd9 ай бұрын
@jcraftblizzard9523 yeah I have read till the end, I remember the only thing he did was have the wall of evil but since the wall of good and evil were separate the author could have easily just made them one wall
@jcraftblizzard95239 ай бұрын
Yeah I had the same issue, even though every character gets their development and progressive arcs I felt like Lee Gilyoung didn’t get his own. Like look I had a huge problem with how underdeveloped Lee Hyunsung was in the early scenarios but he got his one centered arc with OZ and that greatly helped his character along with the Kaizer arc as well. But Lee Gilyoung didn’t get his OZ arc, it felt like his character was more just support for Shin Yoosung’s character. I really wished they gave Lee Gilyoung more big moments or conversations like how they did with Shin Yoosung. This is just me rambling but I feel like if they made Lee Gilyoung and Shin Yoosung both tame the Cimera Dragon with each struggling but getting back up and supporting each other instead of it being more Shin Yoosung focused and gave Lee Gilyoung a moment like Shin Yoosungs Journey to the West ending scene then he’s character would’ve felt more integral to the story and be more satisfying to read. But SingShong did a great job writing all of the characters in ORV these are just my small gripes.

I watched this video because I don't really get what people like so much about ORV. I've read almost all the available chapters of the webtoon and to be honest, I don't feel so invested in the story. Should I read the novel, does it get better?
@jcraftblizzard95239 ай бұрын
Okay look imma be honest with you, if you’re not liking it so far I say you can do two things, 1. Read the novel to the end of part 1, it’s 188 chapters kinda a lot but if you don’t like ORV after part 1’s ending then I don’t think that you should force yourself to read something you don’t like. 2. Stick with the webtoon until Part 1’s ending, it’s close with like a few months of chapters to reach there, currently the webtoon is on chapter 33 and part 1 ends on chapter 35, if you reach that end and still don’t like it then stop reading. I was kind of the same as you when I first started reading ORV through the webtoon, especially in the early chapters, I didn’t find it special just something cool, but when I read the 5th disaster fight in the webtoon and then decided to read the webnovel the story became something truly special to me. I suggest try reading the webnovel if that doesn’t interest you just drop the series. Thanks for asking and trying to see the love for this story though!
@gristen9 ай бұрын
novel definitely hits so much harder than the manhwa for both emotional impact and plot comprehension, especially if youre reading the official webtoon translations which arent as good as the fan ones tbh. theres some meta elements of the story that can only be conveyed in novel format so its the ideal way to consume it imo, and it might make it click better for you
ngl the WN translations kinda sucked ass which kinda leave me confused in a couple arcs and dampen my motivation to read it. I'm now 380 chapters in when they changed translators and it kinda improved my reading experience.
@jcraftblizzard95234 ай бұрын
I get you! For ORV I read multiple different translations to finally get the right one, one on EPUB one online, to enjoy the story. The most annoying thing when starting a new series is enduring terrible translations that just destroy your immersion in the narrative.

I actually have the game but I haven’t played it yet, just started getting into visual novels and I’ve been saving them up for when I start streaming or something. But how is it similar to ORV?
@akashitorayuzaku57067 ай бұрын
@@jcraftblizzard9523 both involves an Author, a Protagonist and a Reader. Both tackles the theme of the relationship between an Author and a reader. Kim Dokja and Beatrice have similar tragedies. And both involves Meta aspects between reality and fantasy The difference being the genre with Umineko, at its core, is a murder mystery and leans more into drama(until u get urself into the magic shennanigans). The plot is more of a puzzle game than an adventure journey as it revolves around the debate between the protagonist and the witch. The story will start off very slow with honestly too much exposition which is one of the major downsides of Umineko, but most of it are necessary build up for solving the mystery behind the story. In terms of character writing, the cast of both series are imo equal in quality with the main trio of Umineko being one of the best written I've ever seen, making u reread the story and discover even more depth from the meta representations presented. But then again it is an entirely different genre which would grant an entirely different kind of journey. And as I've said before, the pacing can get absolutely horrendous unless you have the patience or taste to handle it, but when it peaks, it PEAKS. If the VN isn't to your liking then you may also consider the manga, an incredible adaptation which somewhat fixes the pacing issue and even adds the answers to the mystery that the VN left out. However u will miss out on the banger OSTs.
