In all honesty, VoicePlay is my favorite acapella group, bar none. They do amazing work together, and I've been following them for years. Earl was an amazing part of the group (and one of the original members). I still miss him quite badly a year and a half after his departure. JNone also left the group more recently to join the US Navy choir. Eli, Lane, and Geoff are all amazing singers, though. Eli is one of those singers that you can put just about anywhere in the arrangement, and he'll hit it out of the park. Even when he's not in the limelight, it's a mistake to overlook him. Now, the dangerous thing when it comes to Geoff is that he's got a solo channel. He just released a cover of House of the Rising Sun, which is threatening to unseat his cover of Sixteen Tons as my favorite cover of his.

The bass is Geoff Castellucci. He sings lead in both Oogie Boogie Song (from the Nightmare before Christmas) and their newest release, a wild new cover of the old standard from Fiddler on the Roof, "If I Were a Rich Man/Girl". He also has his own channel - big favorites are Misty Mountain Cold (from The Hobbit), the newest, dropped this week, a rule-breaking version of the folk song "House of the Rising Son" and a lower version of the old classic from Tennessee Ernie Ford, "16 Tons." Tons of good stuff, Voice Play is always tight, professional and totally having fun. I always end one of their songs with a smile on my face.

Not sure what was most impressive, the singing, the dancing or the amount of effort going into that many costume changes.
@Aurora-cv5to3 жыл бұрын
They don't always dance, but they'll almost always leave you smiling. They say they look at each performance as an art piece, so they are perfectionists.

Geoff's range currently is B0 (twice in Halo) with A5 as his high note. That is very nearly 6 octaves. What's so gorgeous is how smooth the registers are.

@@pepperman9460 I mean if you call the Beatles a boy band then most bands in history are boy bands. Boy bands are like Back Street Boys and such
@CynicalTesuji3 жыл бұрын
@@scottdarden5808 The Beatles are actually considered the original boy band. OED defines a boy band as "a pop group composed of young men whose music and image are designed to appeal primarily to a young teenage audience." Looked at it in that light, most of the bands represented fit that bill pretty closely, even if they aren't all modern boy bands. In fact, they kinda make the point that they aren't going to stick to only the modern bands at the very beginning when Geoff says "Let's take it back." Personally, I like the choice.
