I love this medley. The transitions are just incredible & even though they play up their lack of dance skill they're actually brilliant. The One Direction 'dance' is literally what 1D do in the video. The costume changes are also on fire. That's Earl's husband making the wallet comment to Eli,Geoff & Layne's wives. Also the guy who delivers the sandwich is Rek R.I.P who Halo was dedicated to.

If you watch the actual videos by the original artists (or a televised performance of Jackson 5/ Temptations), they're actually re-creating the videos - moves and even clothing/styles.

The little gossip clique was the spouses...Layne, Geoff, and Eli's wives, and Earl's partner. The sandwich delivery guy was Rek, the friend that passed away recently that they dedicated the Halo theme to. :)

Some background. In Nov-2018, VoicePlay hit a Patreon milestone. The reward for that particular milestone was that the patrons got to choose the song the guys would do. That resulting list was narrowed down to a poll consisting of 3 choices. This was the winning Patron choice. And in typical VoicePlay fashion, they went ALL OUT, including enlisting choreographer Kristin Denehy (whom they had worked with on The Sing Off) for those sweet boy band moves. I feel this is just such a labor of love for their patrons (and evidenced by the fact it took 6 months for it to come to fruition), and I adore it.

Not only are they wearing costumes similar to the bands but they are also imitating a lot of their moves as well.

As someone who grew up with a father that was a diehard Beatles and Frankie Valli fan, I grew up listening to this music. I was also very much a 90s boy band fan so I loved this video so much. The transitions are epic and I love how they changed characters essentially with each song change. I love how for a good minute you kind of just zoned out and just vibed with the music. The four people off to the side, the ones that were gossiping, were the members of Voice Play's significant others. The man who gave Earl the sandwich was a former founding member of Voice Play. He passed away recently and the Halo music video was dedicated to him. Great reaction!

Thank you for identifying the songs and group. I keep meaning to send this to one of the kids I mentored through Denver Kids-she was and is a huge Backstreet Boys fan, so she’ll either love this or hate it. LOL. “Love you so bad.” That’s literally the worst lyric to a love song I’ve ever heard!! The “you should see the size of his wallet” people are the wives and husband of Voiceplay members. And the guy who brings them a sandwich during Thank You is Rek-the fallen comrade that they memorialized in Halo Theme. 😔 You can kind of tell how far back a song goes by the length of Geoff’s hair, as well as, obviously, who’s in the group. Moana (just starting to get longer) was 2017, this was 2019. Great reaction, Mortius! And congrats on reaching a new milestone! I can’t do Patreon just now-GIMONGOUS vet bills, past and upcoming, have me on a super tight budget-even with pet insurance I have to have the money available to pay up front, and with my deductible and coinsurance, I’m still out thousands of dollars. Anyway, what I CAN do is subscribe, like and comment to help with the algorithm.

The Holy Trinity of Acapella right now seems to be Voiceplay, Pentatonix and Home Free, in no particular order. And Voiceplay is the one known for their theatrics and their seamless transitions. Home Free is known for its vocal precison and classic Acapella feel, while Pentatonix is known for their composition and modern aesthetic. Make no mistake each group can do any of those things, but that seems to be how it shakes out. As for the 'who is that?' question during the Walk Like A Man section, those are all the significant others gossipping about their men. In this case Earl's is Nick. But at this point everyone was married except J. None. So the four people are Geoff, Eli & Lane's wives and Nick. I thought it was awesome! He's also in the beginning of the Queen in 5 mins video, crying at Earl's bedside, remember?

I will admit that I was reluctant to listen to this in the beginning. I had to listen to 90s boy bands while my son was growing up. But I have to admit that I absolutely love this video. When I am in a bad mood I’ll try and watch this and it just cheers me up immediately. I love that they go back to some of the original boy bands that I listened to in my teen-hood. And even though I’m old, and didn’t know who sang Fake Love I did recognize it. There’s only one song I didn’t recognize: and that was Candy Girl. All the others I could probably sing along with, although I couldn’t identify which band was which because they all kind of blurred together except for Boyz II Men.

Don't worry about not liking the Beatles. My mother doesn't like them either, and she grew up in that era. Her hometown has a whole Beatles Festival, with murals and statues and a museum, all because the group once stopped briefly in the town on their way to a concert. That's it, a pit stop. For a small town, that was the biggest excitement of the century. My mom hated how crazy everyone was for a group she felt were "mediocre at best" LOL!

Even *I* know that particular Beatles song, and I don't know boy bands *or* sixties music. In fact, I think that's the only Beatles song I know, but it's just so frequently covered. Also I think everyone who was alive and not Amish at the time, was exposed to The Right Stuff at some point, though it was long enough ago (and the group that sang it sufficiently mediocre) that I can readily imagine someone not remembering it; I remember it mainly because of Weird Al's take on it, which is hilarious but unfortunately not as well known as the original.

I'm almost 70. When I was 12 or so, I was listening to The Four Seasons, or The Supremes, or The Temptations. Chuck Berry. The Ventures. All good stuff. I didn't like Elvis Presley - he was my sister's crush. Then The Beatles changed everything. Nowadays, I find early Beatles a little hard to listen to, but at that point in time it was AMAZING. And part of it was the fact that all four of them took center stage. Most groups at that time had a single "star" and the rest were supporting characters. True, John and Paul were the primary lead singers, and it was the subject of much conversation if George or Ringo sang, but George was amazingly talented and inventive with instruments, Paul and John wrote some really good music (it got better) and Ringo ... well, in some weird way he was just adorable. Perhaps you had to live through it to see how very much they changed the entire landscape of popular music, plus opening the door to everything that followed.

Eh, I've always thought The Beatles were overrated. :/ I've had a lot of people tell me stuff like "Well, without the Beatles you wouldn't even have [insert random contemporary musician here]" and to that I've got two standards answers: 1) You don't actually know that for sure, you're just making a baseless assertion, and 2) Even if that baseless assertion is true, there's a reason why people these days listen to [insert contemporary musician here] or even [insert classical musician here] instead of The Beatles; every generation of contemporary musicians have taken what The Beatles did and improved upon it, and The Beatles are just way too mediocre to have the staying power of Beethoven, Bach, Tchaikovsky or anyone else from that crowd... To be frank, The Beatles don't even have the staying power of Queen.

I guess I understand why you might not like the Beatles, since they were before your time. (A friend of my husband came into work laughing one day. His teenage daughter had come to him with a starling revelation: “Dad, did you know that Paul McCartney was in another band before Wings?” But I can make a suggestion. In the year 2000 there was a large poll done for people to choose the top 100 albums of the last century. The Beatles Revolver album wasn’t on it. But there was another poll of just musicians, and Revolver was in the top 10. It has all of my favorite songs of theirs on it. You might want to give it a try. My top favorites are For No One and Here, There and Everywhere. And VoicePlay has done Eleanor Rigby which was also on that album. One other note: if you liked the clothes in this video, VoicePlay is currently getting rid of some of them for charity. But you have to be a member of their Patreon to be involved.
