Lovely presentation of my hometown, Victoria! I currently live in Calabria Italy and have been here for six years. Totally different, but the place that I love and call home now! Just for curious people... 10:46 Dallas Road breakwater/cruise ship terminal view, 11:11 Dallas Road dog park, 11:21 Clover point view point, 11:27 Beacon Hill park... Just in case some of your viewers are considering visiting and want to know where these things are. And... Thank you for not playing up the homeless situation. Victoria is one of the cities in Canada with the most temperate climate.. therefor big homeless problem... but... it is beautiful and safe all the way around! Enjoy Vancouver Island... Hi Alina! I love this video! It’s always wonderful to visit Victoria - Canada’s classic English/British capital city. For me, Vancouver and capital Victoria are analogs to Montréal and capital Québec City - Canada’s classic French capital. The Inn at Laurel Point is certainly outstanding, but the Empress Hotel, like the Chateau Frontenac in Québec City, is superbly classic! The Burchart Gardens are amazingly beautiful, well worth the price of admission. Nice to meet you, Laine!

I'm just coming across your channel today, but binge watching as most of your recent videos are places we've been, are going to, or would like to go. My wife was born in Curitiba, but her family emigrated to Vancouver when she was 1 year old (there is a large German Mennonite population that lived there and immigrated here). We still live in the area, and are going to Mexico for 3 weeks in December for our 20th anniversary. I first visited Playa del Carmen in 1993 when it was a very small village with 2 telephones and all businesses had a 2 hour afternoon shut down for siesta, and we honeymooned there and have visited since. This time, though, we want to see more. We're definitely spending the first days in Valladolid, which is the first video I found from you. Hotel Mesón del Marqués will be our spurge on the trip. So many of the people that used to go to Playa now go to Isla Mejures, but we're iffy on it. I'll watch all your videos for there tomorrow. Great content so far! PS. You don't sound like a good Canadian when you pronounce your mom's town (and where I was born), instead you sound like you're from Toronto :) It's Cal-gree
@AlinaMcleod2 жыл бұрын
Haha I lived in Toronto for 7 years. Isla Mujeres was awesome for me and definitely the best beaches right now on the riviera with the seaweed problem. Tulum has horrid for that.
@GreggGordon2 жыл бұрын
@@AlinaMcleod The seaweed is largely a summer issue though, normally December should be clear of it (unless the globe warms even more, it's floating in from the middle of the ocean and is bad due to warmer waters out there promoting growth). But yes, those who go now definitely recommend the island for that reason. We might do a few days in Mérida, and then do a day trip to Celestún to see the flamingos; but personally I'd just stay a couple of days in that small town after seeing the beaches in Google Street View. Being on the gulf coast, the seaweed doesn't reach them; and being a dinky down you'd have a big patch of beach to yourself. I'm pushing my wife's comfort level to much there though.

Thank you for visiting my visiting my hometown. There is 3 options to get to Butchard Gardens: your own vehicle, Grey Line tour buses, or the #75 city bus. Plus if you are frequent visitor to the Gardens, you can get an annual pass and works out cheaper, which is great to see the various events through out the year. Events like live performances & light illuminations (which is different in the Summer from the Winter).

You must be thinking of Vancouver which gets 48" of annual rainfall, while Victoria gets 24" of rain. Typically it rains at night, is cloudy in the morning, and clears up and sunny in the afternoon. However this spring has been abnormally cool, cloudy, rainy.

ive heard that vancouver gets twice as much rain as victoria & that north vancouver gets twice as much rain as vancouver ~ it was a wet spring but that is good for all the vegetation that suffered so much last year ~ also will help keep forest fires down ~ beacon hill park last summer was so dry that all the meadows & lawns were mowed down which i have never seen before ~ prickly on the butt & sorry i could not lay down in the tall grasses to watch the sky completely hidden from view ~ this time last year bc was on fire all over the place

I love going to Victoria for visits. There are so many ways to arrive. I’ve been on the Black Ball ferry from Port Angeles on foot and by car, but there is also a high speed foot ferry from downtown Seattle. I’ve also arrived in Sydney on the ferry from Tswassen in BC, and many times from the US ferry from Anacortes. I think you can get to Butchart Gardens on a regular bus. I have been on a bus in Brentwood Bay right next to it. I don’t have any memory of how I got there, so it was probably by car. They have a dock, but I don’t know if you can get in that way. There is another garden sort of like Butchart in Ukraine west of Kyiv that was created by an exiled Polish Count I can’t count how many times I’ve walked past the Empress hotel, but I’m not sure I’ve been inside. I did really like touring the Parliament and the museum. Really I just like walking around in the center

My two little children, my sister and niece and nephew. Memories...✨🍒✨.p.s. my grandmother was in a wheelchair to not have to walk for hrs and I was at the helm and as we were going down a hill the wheelchair picked up speed and I couldn't decrease the speed and miraculously the wheelchair stopped right before we landed in the lake.
