YOU NEED TO WATCH THIS BEFORE BUYING FRIDGE IN UK (Kenwood, Currys)

I purchased the same fridge on June 2nd 2021. Bulb light went in March 2023. Called Currys to get it fixed and told I first need to purchase a bulb, the call them back to arrange for an engineer to come and install it for a whopping £109. I’m not going to do that. I’ll rather wait for the fridge to completely breakdown and purchase a new fridge. Im taking your advice and not purchasing a Kenwood. Thanks for your video. Update: 13th July 2023. Guess what? With common sense I was able to change the fridge light all by myself and saved £109 😅 took 2 minutes. Your video gave me the idea. Thank you

This is a pretty accurate description of Currys idea of quality. They got the lowest price per unit they could in China. Really these fridges are not fit for purpose. I would never buy a Kenwood product again.

Got the same fridge. Same problem too. You can replace the wires in the door easily. Ive done mine twice now. However in mmm now getting problems with the fridge freezing food in the bottom and food going off at the top. Caused by a build up of ice around the fan. Pain in the backside

We've also had problems with this fridge. Wiring broken twice and now fridge will not cool. Kenwood website a joke. Our fridge is 4 years old and looks new still. We've been told to just get a new one and not to repair. We will not be buying any more Kenwood appliances of any sort.

You're absolutely right, Kenwood is totally crap so as Currys, they take ages to resolve the issue, I recently been through similar situation, had 5 engineer visits and lots and lots of phone calls to book a repair, finally got written off then they were not issuing the voucher had to wait another three weeks 😒. Absolutely rubbish customer service and time wasters. Not happy at all.

My dad brought this as our old one was outdated Wasn't cooling correctly and causing foods to rot so we changed it many times but curry's kept sending the same one as they though the problem was the fridge My dad got fed up that he just brought a £1300 Samsung fridge which is way better but my dad didn't expect to spend this much on a refrigerator

Yep its a super common issue with the door hinge wire had to replace it 3 times now, but its a cheap wire about £8 on ebay and lasts around a year or 2 obviously depends on how much stress you put on the door. Don't know why kenwood thought a design where the wire runs along the hinge of all places was a good one. FYI anyone reading this avoid the whole range of these that use the door/wire setup.

Currys is an appalling company. I've repaired three of these fridge freezers with the same wiring/hinge fault. Machines are not made by Kenwood as Dixons Group purchased the name and knock out appallingly built products. I'm so glad that Currys are on the way to completely closing down. I've already seen three Currys store close down. About time.

Ive had this fridge since 2019 with no issues until yesterday when i noticed it wasnt cooling, found out the wiringnloom issue so fixed that but it's still not cooling

I have the same Fridge, it is only 2yr 10 months old, it no longer cools. Was basically told, get a new fridge.... and Kenwood were so rude on the phone.... PLEASE DONT BUY KENWOOD PRODUCTS.

It's not Kenwood of old. Currys/Dixons just bought the Kenwood name to give their products credibility and a false sense of quality. These are cheap Chinese imports built by who ever can do it the cheapest.

I'm literally having the same problem. I fixed the wires and it was cut, display came back on but still not cooling. All my food is going off. I dont want to have to buy a new one but its looking like I have to now. Never buy a kenwood

There's a thing called planned obsolescence - it's designing things to make sure they will break so that you can buy a new one. Why is this the norm? Because everyone wants to make more this quarter than they made in the previous quarter. Forever.

Definitely not worth taking the risk, especially as you'd be using citrus customer service when it breaks. If you haven't got their warranty they don't want to know.

Does replacing the door loom fix the problem of the fridge display not working or it not cooling? In your video, did you say that the compressor was replaced to get it working? I bought the same fridge as you in 2019 and had the same problem with door loom which I replaced myself. Now the door display doesn’t work, the light inside comes on intermittently when I switch off/on the mains and it has stopped cooling. Biggest scam is that Currys are using Kenwood brand name for what is effectively an own brand item. When I called Currys Knowhow they want to charge £175 including parts but cannot put you through to a technician to get advice. These appliances sold in Currys are not made by Kenwood but are a Currys own brand item and do not comply with Kenwood’s high standards and they are tarnishing Kenwood’s good name.

Hi Steve, once they have replaced the loom on both occasions it seemed to have sorted it out. When the display stopped working it was because the wires in the loom snapped as they are not covered. I definitely agree with you that it is deceiving that Curries is using the Kenwood brand name. I was lucky as I have purchased a KnowHow cover and they came to fix it. They mentioned replacing the compressor but a different engineer done something different and it seemed to have worked.
