Sundown? One of my salt8s popped on start up few months before my 2yr warranty. Sent my amp in and was determined to be under warrenty. I was offered repair, a new one, or full refund credit of my receipt amount. I chose a new amp and tbey had it to me in a fair time i think 5-6weeks start to finish?

@@daniels1st Colin left Wolfram for a few reasons, and he alone started up Surge. He was doing the legwork at Wolfram, and trying to keep them going, but due to conflicts, he left. You can't fault one individual, for the lack of customer support, when he was working non stop, to keep that business afloat. I'm glad he moved away from Wolfram, and did his own thing.

Yea thats great customer service. I might have to grab some of these. I sent one of my Crescendo Encore 12k amps back to Crescendo Audio in 2020 to get fixed, not under warranty. The company doesn't return my phone calls, doesn't respond to email. So I'm out 1 of my amps and no explanation why. Florida is 3000miles away or I'd be asking them in person. Sounds like Surge is a good company. 👍

Mine starting smoking after 5 minutes. RMAed and they gave me a new one. The second one started smoking after 5 minutes. I have the emails where he said it was normal due to the glue (theres way too much) Around the transistors. He said cycle the power about 8 times and its be OK. Cycled the power on a test bench and there was so much smoke it smelled like the board was burning up. My bench and car have two wood planks so the back of my amos can breathe. My gains set by DD-1. My Orion been beating 4 years strong no problems. I guess I'll just stick with Orion cause he's not responding to my 3rd RMA request🤨

I got two PL-3000s on preorder but didn't get to hook them up until yesterday. Hooked up the first one to power without the subs, goes into protect momentarily then green as expected but after 10 minutes starts smoking.......continued to do so though amp stayed cool. At this point, I was not sure if to connect the subs but just said send it. The amp played for close to an hour without any problem though continued smoking. Put in the second one today and after about 12 minutes, started smoking as well. Looking through and touching the plexiglass bottom, traced the issue to the glue around the output filters and adjacent wirewound resistors once they get hot......hope it goes away.

@@Macross223UPDATE:The smoke is gone, amp works just fine. It seems like a glue quality issue than too much of it. I will hook up the second one to smoke away in an open area just in case it's toxic.

4 agm's for a more than 7K capable watts is NOT enough. Besides shouldn't have blown so quickly it wasn't even wired low. I would have rather get back the repaired amp with the issue resolved than getting a new amp with same problem still.

I been buying JL for 30 and had no problems. My dealer actually hooked it up wrong blew my sub and they warranty it no problem. They rebuilt it first time and it blew so they sent me a brand new 13w7 didn’t even make me pay shipping they covered it. Yea here high but man they stand behind their stuff so does Rockford they do real good to.

@@Chuck_Sandersthey quit innovating over a decade ago. Their amps are great still. Their subs are sub par. JL also hasn’t innovated really anything in car audio in about the same time. Their amps are solid,but there’s better for less. And their subs are solid as well,but there’s better also for less. I will always hype up the w6 for SQ though. One of my favorite subs,only surpassed by Adires product for SQL.

@@brianrich7828 both brands are very overly priced for their old tech. With Garmin purchasing JL, I don't think they'll advance much in the car audio side still, but maybe in marine and ATV products. Brands become stale to consumers, when they push the same products for years(Skar included) on end, yet keep increasing prices.

What ? Y’all got to be kidding me. These amps are built like 2 d2 subs is .5 load if you had low power not high out put alt u may have damaged the amp by beating clipping Bluetooth is horrible. Run a line connnect I love the amp it shouldn’t have a issue unless strained past it limits

Where are you buying these at a 1/10th of the cost? Just curious. These aren't built in China. They're built in Korea by S and I. As someone who has and does work with build houses in China, Korea and Japan for almost 3 decades.. You're not buying anything from build houses without purchasing the MOQ, unless it's a sample. And the air freight alone is $120-170 for a sample order for an amplifier, plus the sample costs of the amp.
