Ringo didn't need solos, in my opinion. He was such a style/song drummer that he showed his flair in his fills and being just unique enough and having a sound of his own that suited The Beatles perfectly. He had such a simple kit too, did a lot with very little. His contribution to The Beatles, to me, were like the punctuation marks in great literature. If you remove them, you still have something resembling great art and you can figure it all out ultimately. But what you would have is something incomplete, shallow, lacking depth. What he lacked in technicality, he made up for with flavor. Ringo was a Beatle through and through.
