Spectacular! Everything - the location, those monster sea bass you guys hooked, that gear needed, how you had to paddle out into the deep sea just to lay the bait - and the absolute gorgeous ultramarine sea! Pity about the jerks in the boat, there's always at least one everywhere; glad you escaped them. Thanks for sharing man, loved it!

We call them Brindle bass, and I believe in America the are named Giant grouper....any way they are beasts!!! They are a Projective species over here and they do tend to get pretty old so it is very nice seeing you guys letting them go so grace fully.

Giant Black Sea bass. Protected here as well.
@wildlifefishingshow3 ай бұрын
@gorgoncorvenus4529 they are a similar fish to grouper but slightly different. We were actually attempting to break the land based mako shark record, but these fish kept getting the baits first. Definitely protected here, too, so we were as cautious with the release as possible.

Are they not the ones divers hate that work on oil rigs. The divers are more scared of them than sharks. The guys say they get this eerie feeling, and when they turn around, these buggers are behind them and stare them in the face with the turn around, day and night. Every now and again, a diver will find his head in the mouth of one, lol!!! The one guy says he takes the fish that always bothers him food, and then the fish leaves him alone and chases all others away from him loll!!

Guys my buddy and I are planning a trip to Oman to fish for giant GT's and big Rooster fish. What Terra Firma rods would you recommend for this type of fishing we will be out on the open water plus we will be traveling from Canada over to Oman so we need to pack them good so break down rods would work best for us??
@wildlifefishingshow2 ай бұрын
@teammusky7469 I asked Spencer what we were using and what he recommended for GT, and here's what he said... terrafirmatackle.com /collections/fishing-rods /products/land-based-shark -fishing-lbsf-rod These are our standups we used on that trip to the island For GT, if popping from a boat We do a 8' popping style spinner here: terrafirmatackle com/collections/fishing -rods/products/pier-fishing -slidebaiting-rods For landbased work with heavier lures and even heavier drags, we have a 10' popping model here, the 40-60 is probably exactly right terrafirmatackle com/collections/fishing -rods/products/surf-fishing -slidebaiting-rods-built-to-order
