You *Probably* shouldn't buy spools from BambuLab...

I made a spool even better and cheaper than BambuLab's! You should probably avoid buying any BambuLab spools in the future, and just print your own. And I've got the perfect spool for it!

Just a note if you print the spools in the filament type you're printing it for, that if you use a heated filament dehydrator, it may warp. At least, it did for my Masterspools, and from his social media, Carl has also found this out.

Yep! I'm looking at my script right now, and I def wrote this warning in there! I have no clue how it didn't make it into the vid tho... I'm upset lol it was the main reason I swapped to ABS In any case, the orange spool at 0:38 was the victim of that. I did kinda bend it back into place, but it was too messed up at that point.

Great idea. Instead of the outer ring being the color, what about a small threaded ring that thread into the hub?

The idea was that you'd be able to see it from any angle including if just the edge was peeking out of a box or something, but I could see that being handy too! ( I assume you mean where big hole is through the middle, right?)

@@carlthepumpkinman Yeah, the hub is the center of the spool. It could easily have bands that reached out to the edges. The reason I suggest something in the hub is 2 fold. The smaller circle to start is easier to print (Saw you had some layer adhesion issues) because the center of the bed is usually the more level spot on the bed. This gets good adhesion, then if you made bands reaching out (think an X with a circle in the middle). You'd get great adhesion, still visible on the outside. Sure edge cases of being in a box or very obscured is always going to be an issue. Short of the spool being the color of the filament (ive tried it, too much effort IMHO) you'll deal with edge cases on everything. For me, reliability of printing the object far out most other use cases. Either way, love seeing creative content like this.

@MakersMashup yeah, I've tried the whole spool-of-its-own-filament thing with the same results as you. The ring is kinda a gimmick; after all, you can just see the filament directly through the spokes anyway so you don't even need to print one at all lol. And thanks, I try my best!
