You Quit Gibson Over Finish Checking? GTFOH

I'll be the first to admit, I've complained PLENTY about some of Gibson's choices in how they build guitars. I'll be the first to admit I prefer a minty finish over one that has dents and dings. But saying I'll never buy another Gibson again, isn't something I've EVER said. I LOVE Gibson, I complain about Gibson, but I've never complained about problems I CAUSED. Where is the guitar being stored? Is it too cold? Is it too hot? My LP Custom is 6 years old, is stored on a stand, played every day for hours, and has NO such cracks. My SG Custom is 2 years old, again NO cracks. In fact, I've never had a Gibson with those kinds of finsih cracks in the heel. However, I've seen HUNDREDS of Fenders with cracks around the neck on either side of the pocket. Also... Fender doesn't finish using Nitro...

My Gibson had a hair on it. So I returned it. Ever tried to play a guitar with a hair on it, OMG!

Never buying a Gibson again, not only did it arrive not in tune but 3 of the 4 knobs weren't on 0. And they punched a long ass unnecessary number in the back of the headstock! Like I tried calling the number and nothing! Not only am I never buying again I'm suing.

I really think that's the beauty of Nitro finishes, they grow old and age with you, they show the hard work and the artistic struggles, that nobody can fake in any way.

I'm freaking out! I just went and bought a brand new shiny guitar. I hung it on the wall. I went out to the store, and when I got back I discovered to my shock and horror that somebody had picked it up and played it!! I don't know what I'm going to do, I guess I'll have to sell it now. I have no idea how I'll ever get my money back! Of course now I have to have a new one, but this time I'm gonna be smart. I'll lock it up in the safe so nobody will ever even see it, much less think about playing it. I just don't know what's the matter with people nowadays.

LOL!! I know EXACTLY what you're reacting to, and I agree with you. If people are down on Gibsons, or any other brand for that matter, they will find things wrong with them. If you prefer something else, that's fine, go play something else!

I've never cared if there were any dings and finish errors on my guitars and basses, mostly because they'll end with a few more obvious blemishes after staying a few years with my clumsy ass.

It’s not the cosmetics that worry me it’s the fact that the newer Gibson’s feel like a laminated 2X4
